Great host and a nice overview
We really liked this 2 hour walking tour of East Village / Alphabet city with wide range of locations that touch the areas music history. The host really did a good job of storytelling with photos to support (and even participate in!). If there's anything I found lacking personally, was I would have liked to hear more about Lou Reed/The Velvet Underground and Sonic Youth - I might have missed my opportunity at the start to mention that!

    GREAT TOUR.
My son, Jack (15 years old)) and I loved our tour of the Village from Joe. He asked us who we liked and catered to our tastes (Dylan, Hendrix, etc.), and accommodated our special time constraints. What a great tour! Anyone who can keep the attention of a 15-year-old for two hours without using TikTok knows what they’re doing!!

It was amazing, so many unforgetable knowledge and new not publicly known insight on NYC punk scene! The host is just legend and he knows everything. If you love punk rock, this is a NYC must go, it was a highlight of our stay! I reccomend doint this on one of your first days of stay to be able to discover tips from the tour in following days as well.

Rock n Punk Tour of East Village NYC
This really is an excellent walking tour of key former live music venues and locations lived in or frequented by influential musicians in the rock and punk worlds. Thoroughly enjoyable, with many interesting facts and stories from the past. The tour was conducted by Bobby Pinn who has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the music scene there. I would thoroughly recommend it for all like minded music fans.

A Tour worthy of Alphabet City
Bobby Pinn’s over all knowledge of the punk rock era, included The Ramones primarily but definitely went into neighborhood favorites including Lou Reed, Joe Strummer, Blondie, Madonna, Led Zeppelin, Bill Graham, and The Rolling Stones… etc. We wanted a bit more emphasis on other than the Ramones full-blown heavy handed tour. We enjoyed the Rock Junket rendition of the fascinating story behind Bill Graham’s Fillmore East over all mass appeal back in the late 60s. Bobby Pinn subjected us to quite a dive into The Ramones. However this walking tour could benefit from a more balanced approach that includes personalities other than punk rock artists and personal dives into the many musicians who lived in the Lower East Side. We wanted more behind the scenes into the musical personas much like Bill Graham’s story of rags to riches tell-tales and how he made it from Germany to New York and how he became somebody in the NY of the 70s.

    Excellent walking tour!
Bobby Pinn's knowledge about the history of rock in general and punk rock in particular is vast. This made the tour fascinating. It was emotional to see the locations that were central to the development of this new music. I highly recommend this walk.

    A hit with music-obsessed teenager!
We signed up a 14 year old friend who is a budding musician and loves rock music and he had a BLAST. Definitely gonna try and catch the other tours also!

Bound to bring back good memories
Fantastic and well worth it. "Bobby Pinn" was so knowledgeable about the history of the East Village and the music, and was very engaging, fielded all the questions and got everyone involved. He and the tour was so good I bought his book and reading through it he was very much a part of the music industry and it showed in his tour. If you are a music fanatic like me (Zeppelin, Lou Reed, Television, The Clash, The Ramones to name a few) it is worth it.

We did the tour with Larry who was both extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We learned many things we were not aware of as we explored the different areas of Woodstock where so much of the early folk and rock scene took place. Larry took his time and really enjoyed sharing both stories and myths with us. We highly recommend the tour to anyone remotely interested in the 60's music and art scene, and especially the Woodstock area itself.

We did this tour with Larry this past weekend, and it was fabulous! He is an awesome tour guide – so engaging and knowledgeable, and the three hours really flew by. I would highly recommend doing this tour to anyone who is going to be spending time in the area.

Fantastic! My wife and I had a wonderful time walking and talking with Larry , a veritable font of information regarding the Woodstock rock scene and an
all - around great guy. The in- depth tour of the Bearsville Theater and peek inside Dylan's "White Room" were the highlights of the tour for me. Take it , you won't be disappointed!

If you want to learn everything there is to know about the music history in the town of Woodstock, take Larry's tour. If you want to learn about what went on in the years leading up to the 1969 Woodstock music festival, take Larry's tour. Larry is an encyclopedia of information and presents that information in an easy to understand, and humorous manner. This slow paced walking tour points out the various historical spots in town, all the while supported by Larry's afore mentioned knowledge, and humor. If you find yourselves in Woodstock, please do yourselves a favor, and book Larry's tour. It is not to be missed.

Larry was an exceptional tour guide and possessed a wealth of information and knowledge about Albert Grossman and the musicians who contributed to the dawning of music history in the town of Woodstock. The Bearsville Theater is (more than) amazing and truly is an art of work in itself. Definitely a tour well worth taking!!!!

I couldn't say what my favorite part of the experience was, other than to say, all of it! "Pittsburg Larry" was very knowledgeable, and most entertaining. The group consisted of myself, a good friend of mine, and a group of women who take annual vacations together. We all got along quite well and each contributed a bit of our own Rock and Roll knowledge\ personal stories, making the event even more special. I think we all learned something, and thoroughly enjoyed each others company. Above all, Larry was a great ringleader!

This was a fantastic insight into the links between Woodstock and the people who originally made it famous - Albert Grossman/Bob Dylan and members of 'The Band'.
Larry's encyclopedic knowledge of all those involved and how they were interlinked was amazing. The walk takes you to see many of the places that fill in the gaps in the stories. Well worth the time and cost of the tour.

If you are planning a trip to Woodstock this tour is a must!! Me and my wife highly enjoyed this tour. We normally dont sign up for tours choosing to explore and discover things on our own but being musicians and rock history lovers we thought we would give this one a try. Our tour guide Larry was a great guy and was very knowledgeable showing us sights that we would have never noticed or known the significance of. He had alot of great stories and insider info. This is definitely not one of those cheesy tours it was well worth the cost!!

We met our tour guide Larry at the Bearsville Theater & he instantaneously kicked our tour off with gusto & a wealth of knowledge from start to finish making this the most groovy tour any music lover would enjoy!

~ Most Enjoyable Treat for Hippies of All Ages, Wear Walking shoes & bring your camera to take amazing shots along the way as you learn fun facts on Albert Grossman, Bob Dylan, Todd Rundgren, Janis Joplin, The Band, and so many more.

You will discover via your tour guide a wealth of history that is still happening today.

Peace

I did the Woodstock tour and it was just amazing. Larry had so much local knowledge and such interesting facts about all of the bands and musicians. The tour was exactly what I was hoping- a guide who knows the local people and music scene intimately. Can’t wait to go on another one. Larry was also an eloquent gentleman and interesting person.
