This is a half day tour. Please note, the tour route and sights may vary depending on the time of year and weather conditions. It is always our goal to provide you with the most interesting adventure possible. Departing downtown Portland, we drive east alongside the Columbia River towards the quaint town of Troutdale, known as the Gateway to the Gorge. We will join the beautiful Historic Columbia River Highway, the first planned scenic roadway in the United States, and wind our way along the Sandy River to our first stop for the day: Crown Point. This famous overlook sits 733 feet above the Columbia River, atop the remains of a lava flow that swept through the Gorge around 14 to 17 million years ago! There, we will find 180-degree amazing views of the Columbia River Gorge and have time to explore the Vista House. This intricately designed observatory and museum is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. From there, we will again join the historic highway as we drive deeper into the Columbia River National Scenic Area. Our first waterfall for the day will be the dramatic Latourell Falls, which plunges 249 feet over a massive wall of columnar basalt. Depending on the season, a short .25 mile paved trail hike will be led to get a closer view of the falls. Continuing on our journey through the gorge, we’ll get a sneak peek of the famed Multnomah Falls on our way to our next stop—an overlooked gem directly off of the historic highway called Horsetail Falls. Once at the base of these falls, it won’t be difficult to see how it received its name. Feel the mist on your face as the water plummets down into the deep pool below. Worry not! The grand Multnomah Falls will be the final stop in our journey. Plummeting 620 feet in two major steps, Multnomah Falls is the highest waterfall in Oregon and second highest continuously flowing waterfall in the nation! There, we will explore the Multnomah Falls Historic Lodge (a Cascadian style stone and timber lodge built in 1925) as well as the beautiful Multnomah Falls itself. During the gorge fire of 2017, the wildland fire crew fought tirelessly and ultimately saved this historic landmark. The easily accessible viewing platform offers a full view of the Benson Bridge and cascading falls beyond it. Our journey will return us to Portland via the Columbia River scenic route (approximately 45 mins). Depending on changing visitation patterns in the Columbia River Gorge, this tour may run in the reverse order than what is listed above.

      Great views
Visiting the waterfalls was fun. The ‘1mjn-dollar house’. It was definitely an unexpected highlight for me. Spectacular views. Sadly very much wind. For me we didnt need to stop to buy fruit. But it was there. Time at the timberline lodge could have been 30 minutes longer. Now you had to rush to get some pictures of the indoor of the hotel and of the views outside. All together great day. Eric, well done

This was a wonderful tour! Daniel, our friendly tourguide, made this interesting and enjoyable. The Timberline Lodge and surrounding area was beautiful and the waterfalls were amazing! Daniel was full of facts about history and about his personal experiences, which made the tour even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend this tour.

David was an awesome guide. Very knowledgeable about the coast and the Portland area. He made sure we had a great trip. It rained during our trip but that did not stop us from seeing the coast.

      A must do tour
Heard the waterfalls were a must do. How true! With a great group and super great guide Drew you could not miss! Very knowledgeable and showed us the best views. Extra falls too along with wildlife sightings this tour was one of the best we took in Portland.

      Superlative Tour - Outstanding Guide
The tour was wonderful; we saw a number of sites in a single day, but the pacing rarely felt rushed. Our guide, Daniel, was filled with local knowledge, which he gladly shared, making the tour that much more interesting. The stop at the Draper Girl's Farm Stand was the only disappointment: a) that is the one time we felt a bit rushed; b) the clerk there treated us as if we were an imposition and an inconvenience. She had a very dour expression and was not at all friendly. Most of the people purchased their overpriced items, so there was no cause for her to be so surly. Beyond that one small hiccup, the tour was amazing and I highly recommend it.

See lots outside Portland in just a day!
We left downtown Portland promptly at 8:30 am with our group (8 of us, some other solo travelers and 2 couples) led by Monet. She is super knowledgeable, caring, and kind. Weather was great - recommend bringing a hoodie or light jacket in September as it’s chilly in the morning when we started. You get to spend just enough time at each spot, which I appreciated. If you’re looking to spend a lot of time exploring, this may not be for you. For me, it was absolutely perfect. I’d also recommend bringing a power bank for your phone so it doesn’t die from all the photos you’ll be taking… and have fun! Book this tour - great way to see some fantastic places efficiently!

      Disappointing tour guide! Disappointing tour!
I waited several weeks before writing this review, thinking I might cool off a bit with time. I have not. After reading every review on TA on Oregon Coast tours we opted to go with Wildwood Adventures. Our tour was on Saturday, August 5th at 9:00 am. We arrived a bit early and a tour van was packed full and just preparing to depart. The tour guide of that van was very friendly and stated that we were booked on the next van that would be pulling up shortly. Indeed it arrived just a minute later. We were delighted to have only seven tourists plus the guide/driver on our tour. There was plenty of room to spread out and be comfortable. We were expecting a wonderful eight hour trip full of tons of information on the area. Past reviews on TA raved about their guides and how informative they were, knowledgeable about the area, the wealth of info they got on the trip and how much fun it was. I won't mention our guide's name, but let's just say he was not one of them mentioned on the positive TA reviews I read. Yes, the van left on time, we made it to the coast, saw some beautiful sights, ate at Cannon Beach and made it back safe and sound. The drive felt safe and we arrived back to Portland just shortly after our scheduled time. While our driver was courteous it was very obvious he either hated his job or just did not want to be there. It felt like maybe he was called into work on a day he would otherwise have had off. We certainly didn't have the same experience as all of the 4 and 5 star reviews I had read. Although he would answer any questions we had, there was not much volunteered info from him or tour commentary. It was a very blah trip and frankly, we couldn't wait to get back to Portland. I'm not sure what happened, but we certainly didn't have the same experience as the other's listed on here. I have taken more than 15 guided tours all over the world. This was, without a doubt, the most disappointing. We paid $300 for two of us. If I knew what I was getting that day, I would not have even paid $100!  We had a rental car and I could have driven the route and got a guide book on the area for free from AAA and could have gotten more information than what we received from our tour guide. I got the impression that we were not the only ones frustrated and disappointed. I only tipped 10% and it was difficult handing that over. The tour guide we had was just terrible. I regret spending the money and wasting our time on this tour. Safe travels.

      Horrible tour guide
The tour guide/driver was beyond sketchy, terrible at the actual tour guide part but also got road rage and gave the impression he was just very “off” the entire time, felt very uncomfortable and unsafe, got bitchy when gave no tip

I went on this expedition expecting to just see waterfalls. Aaron offered so much more. He was passionate about every Portland. On the way there and back he not only gave us so much cool info about Portland and the surrounding areas but answers any questions we had from native vegetation to history to awesome place to eat and visit. One of the best tours I have been on. Do it!

Mel was our guide, and she created a memorable experience for our group of three. Throughout our four-hour tour, she offered a wealth of knowledge about the waterfalls and the entire Oregon area. Our group was efficient, so we were able to bonus up on sights, over six amazing waterfalls in all. Overall, an excellent tour made exceptional due to our exceptional guide.

We had a wonderful tour guide (Dave) who answered our million questions and provided lots of really interesting info about the area. The tour hit all the top spots but Dave took us in such an order that none of the stops were too crowded. We had to rebook our tour to a different time and the office staff we talked to were very accommodating and happy to help. Overall really great experience with Wildwood Tours!
