About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Donald B0 contributionsGreat ExperienceDaniel was fantastic! So knowledgeable about the geographic wonders of the area and regional history. Plus, he had great information on the native plants and wildlife. He expertly drove to all the sights on winding mountain roads and through city traffic, saving us the trouble and making us feel very safe. Would definitely book again and recommend it to everyone!Written December 5, 2024
- BrendonP_19870 contributionsGreat fun!The weather was average the day we went but we had a great time. As it was a small group and we all agreed we got to a hike and see an extra waterfall. Informative guide and free water on the tour.Written November 24, 2024
- Mike and Julie G0 contributionsSpectacular Views! The views were spectacular! A fun and easy way to see the sights. Would recommend. Chuck was a good tour guide and our group was fun to tour with.Written November 13, 2024
- jhalonc0 contributionsBest trip everThe views were amazing. We took so many pictures. Best trip I have ever been too. The guide was the best guide I have ever had. Peter was very knowledgeable.Written November 11, 2024
- z-manr0 contributionsVery good views of the waterfalls along the Columbia River. The tour was enjoyable, and we stopped at all the vista points. Weather was mildly cold and cloudy, but no rain. Eric, the driver, narrated almost non-stop; with good info, he also oversold the beauty of the Portland area with all the waterfalls, and we're from the Bay Area having visited Yosemite, Iguazu Falls, etc.Written November 11, 2024
- Expedition2820900 contributionsNice selection of wineries!Excellent tour! Dominque, our guide, had an amazing breadth of knowledge about the Valkey and wines. Really appreciated the selection of wineries we visited! All distinctly enjoyable in their own way.Written November 9, 2024

- ktitimbo0 contributionsGreat tour!Awesome full day tour with Dominique!! She was very informative, knowledgeable, friendly, energetic, and quick to offer great recommendations for the best spots during the tour and for exploring the city afterward. The tour was fantastic, filled with stunning natural beauty, many impressive tall waterfalls. Even though not all the trees had turned autumn colors yet, the views were breathtaking. Every stops offers amazing angles and natural lighting, ideal for photo enthusiasts. I would definitely recommend this tour with Wildwood Adventures. They truly know what they are doing and handle any inconvenience promptly.Written October 28, 2024
- Mary T0 contributionsWaterfall tour with AaronWhat a beautiful day! Aaron was our tour guide and he was excellent. He has so much knowledge about the area, it was hard to take it all in. This was our first time to Portland, and I learned so much just from these 4 hrs. I would definitely give Aaron and the tour a 5++++! Thank you so much for sharing the morning with us.Written October 25, 2024

- delaneyw990 contributionsPerfect half day tour of Portland to be immersed in nature!Super fun trip right out of Portland to 4 different waterfalls & then a final stop at Vista House. Our driver, David, was excellent— he was super knowledgeable about the area, able to answer any questions, kept everyone on time, and was happy to take photos for guests. There were multiple opportunities to use restrooms along the way. The van was comfortable, we were provided with water, and we felt safe the entire time. October feels like the perfect time to visit as the leaves are just beginning to change & it’s gorgeous. David was also able to drop us back off at a beer garden for food on the way back, which was much appreciated. Would definitely do again!Written October 21, 2024

I waited several weeks before writing this review, thinking I might cool off a bit with time. I have not.
After reading every review on TA on Oregon Coast tours we opted to go with Wildwood Adventures.
Our tour was on Saturday, August 5th at 9:00 am.
We arrived a bit early and a tour van was packed full and just preparing to depart. The tour guide of that van was very friendly and stated that we were booked on the next van that would be pulling up shortly. Indeed it arrived just a minute later.
We were delighted to have only seven tourists plus the guide/driver on our tour. There was plenty of room to spread out and be comfortable. We were expecting a wonderful eight hour trip full of tons of information on the area. Past reviews on TA raved about their guides and how informative they were, knowledgeable about the area, the wealth of info they got on the trip and how much fun it was. I won't mention our guide's name, but let's just say he was not one of them mentioned on the positive TA reviews I read.
Yes, the van left on time, we made it to the coast, saw some beautiful sights, ate at Cannon Beach and made it back safe and sound. The drive felt safe and we arrived back to Portland just shortly after our scheduled time. While our driver was courteous it was very obvious he either hated his job or just did not want to be there. It felt like maybe he was called into work on a day he would otherwise have had off. We certainly didn't have the same experience as all of the 4 and 5 star reviews I had read. Although he would answer any questions we had, there was not much volunteered info from him or tour commentary. It was a very blah trip and frankly, we couldn't wait to get back to Portland.
I'm not sure what happened, but we certainly didn't have the same experience as the other's listed on here. I have taken more than 15 guided tours all over the world. This was, without a doubt, the most disappointing. We paid $300 for two of us. If I knew what I was getting that day, I would not have even paid $100! We had a rental car and I could have driven the route and got a guide book on the area for free from AAA and could have gotten more information than what we received from our tour guide. I got the impression that we were not the only ones frustrated and disappointed.
I only tipped 10% and it was difficult handing that over. The tour guide we had was just terrible. I regret spending the money and wasting our time on this tour.
Safe travels.

Hello,
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback. We apologize that you didn’t feel like your tour was top notch. We have very high expectations of all our guides. Everybody on our team has remained with us because of their passion for travel and nature and their enthusiasm to share that with visitors. Our training is very thorough for all guides, and safety, knowledge, and friendliness should be top priority on each and every tour.
We wish we had known about this instance sooner, but we also understand the delay. We encourage you to give our main office a call to chat with one of our managers if there may be more to add or if there is anything else you think we should know about your experience. We will be investigating this further to make sure this is not an ongoing issue, as it is absolutely not ok.
If you ever find yourself back in the Portland area, we would love a second chance to explore with you and make things right!
Thank you,
Wildwood Adventures

The correspondence prior to this day trip to the Oregon Coast went very well. The day prior to the tour, we received a text message that Ecola State Park would be closed on the tour date for preventive maintenance, so instead Sam, our guide, added another stop at the beach in Manzanita. In addition, we stopped at Haystack Rock, Cannon Beach with Bruce's Candy Kitchen and Lazy Susan Cafe, Oswald West State Park, Neahkahnie Overlook. Sam was informative and has a good portion of humor. Very enjoyable guide. Go Sam! We highly recommend this day trip.

Our tour guide Sam was the best! She made sure we took good pictures and her lunch recommendation for Kiki’s taco was great. All the stops were picture perfect. Really a must do while in Portland. The pick up location was also really convenient. Sam had to run a little behind but she was good at keeping the lines of communication open and letting us know she was a few minutes behind schedule

We enjoyed the Oregon Coast tour immensely. Our guide and driver, Evan, was outstanding. He was knowledgeable about the geologic history of the region, as well as the more recent. His driving was excellent and he was very helpful with the slower members of our group. The coastal views were magnificent! We recommend the tour as one of the best ever. Scheduling was easy and the pickup and drop off were right on time!

This was my first of two tours with Wildwood, and if I had stayed longer I would have done at least one more - they were that good. My guide in both cases (see my tour of Columbia Gorge and Mount Hood) was Evan, who was outstanding. I learned so much about the geological history of the area, the different types of trees and other flora that we saw, and the role of salmon in local economic history. We had very well-spaced rest and stretch stops, and longer stops for photography and lunch. The van was very comfortable, everyone was masked, and Evan is an excellent driver. He spoke with each of us, and offered to take photos for us all against amazing backdrops. At one stop he took a few of us on an extra hike through a cool gnarly forest down to a secluded beach. I couldn't have been happier with this tour.

The Oregon Coast Tour is very much dependent on the weather conditions along the coast. Since there was a lot of fog the day of our tour, it was difficult to fully enjoy the coastline’s beauty. That being said, our tour guide, Sam, was awesome. She gave us lots of information about the vegetation and trees in the area. Our stop for lunch in the town of Canon Beach was also very pleasurable.

No exaggeration, this was absolutely incredible. Chuck was a great guide, providing tales of history, geography, science and fun Trivia all along the journey. He brought us to spectacular sites in a luxury van. Honestly one of the best trips of my life, the scenery is amazing, the trees, the cliffs and the ocean.
Tip- it was a lot cooler by the coast so bring layers. Also, an umbrella!

This tour was our favorite part of our 1st trip to Oregon. We had no idea that the Oregon coastline was so beautiful. Our stops seemed like hidden gems, with our guide, Dave, knowing all of the best vantage points to capture the best views and a great deal about the area. While a bit of fog kept the lighthouse under cover, the fog added dramatic dimensions to photos and was only noticeable during the early part of our day. We definitely have plans to return the the Oregon Coast. I would recommend this tour to anyone,

David was awesome, tour went from 9am till about 4pm. We went to several locations near the coast, had lunch, hiked, picked some berries. It was a wonderful time. Dave was a great driver and was extremely knowledgeable about all things in Oregon, super friendly. Will do it again when I’m back in Portland!

What an incredible adventure! We traveled to the coast with Andy and Mel. They were so knowledgeable and patient with my elderly parents and aunt. We originally thought we could just drive to the coast ourselves. What a mistake that would have been! Andy knew the history of the area and many great viewing areas that we would have missed. We returned with hundreds of beautiful phptos and a deeper and richer knowledge of this beautiful place.

I am looking to book a sightseeing tour for my mother, 92 yrs young and he 91 yr old boyfriend. Is there a lot of walking on your tour? They are mobile, but walking a lot can be challenging. Any suggestions would b welcome. The trip is 8/20.
Written December 8, 2019
I agree with the others. Quite a bit of walking, sometimes over uneven surfaces

How long do we spend at each site? What kind of van do we travel in?
Written April 1, 2019
It's a very nice van, if I remember correctly it was a Mercedes. Not a typical van, more like the hotels use to take guests to and from the airport. The typical stop lasted for approximately 30 minutes I would guess. Most of the time was in the van, good thing often because of the weather.

I will be out in Oragan from May 13 until May 20th, or longer. I am just one person who REALLY want to get a chance to take this tour of the Irgan Coast. When. Can I get a resveration. The tour seems to Always be sold out.

I am very interested in the stops at the Parks ... how much time is allowed there (Ecola and Oswald West)? Is there time to take any hikes in these parks?
Written August 10, 2018
No, unfortunately there is not time for that.
Written May 19, 2019
Hi, the tour was about 8 hours. It was nice as it was multiple stops so it didn't feel like you were riding in a van all day. Andy was very conscience of the time and had us all back in Portland at 5:00 p.m.

My group of 3 have booked a tour for July24th, I received a voicemail from Wildwood Adventures regarding modifications of the tour due to ongoing maintenance . I could not understand what he was saying about the modifications, and what was actually changed. Can you tell me what is changed on the tour? I’m sure it will still be amazing, I’m just curious as to what has been changes and what we can expect to see.

The above answer by adamcinj sounds very reasonable as the answer to your question. I will also say that our guide told us they can be reached directly at any time. I'd give them a call! When I called to confirm our pick up time, the receptionist was very kind and efficient.
