Architecture, history, and great food -- this is a winner
With a passion for good food and learning the culture of a city, this tour really appealed to me. And it didn't disappoint. We started out by each participant (max of 12) selecting an ingredient from a local farm stand. Chef Natasha took our selections (adding her own ingredients as well) and left to create a three-course lunch. While she was off doing her magic, the tour of that area of Charleston began with our tour guide Alice. Alice was an excellent guide -- friendly, warm, knowledgeable. She spoke about the history of the area, the major influence of the people who were enslaved on food and even agriculture. It's a tricky thing to discuss slavery in the south, but Alice IMHO managed to both honor the people brought to America in chains, without making anyone south of the Mason Dixon line feel attacked. I'm a northerner so you may want to take that into account. The lunch was delicious and if I had the time I would have gone back to Natasha's restaurant Uncorked Charleston. If wine is your thing, there's a wine bar that was most intriguing.

    Delectable lunch tour
We were having trouble finding a parking spot - not familiar with Charleston parking rules made it harder for us to find a place so we barely made it in time at 11am. The guide Amelia was kind enough to wait for us and told us where to park once the walking tour part was over. The walking tour was very informative. Enjoyed the stops and highlights. Once we arrived at Uncorked, we were welcomed by the chef and servers. We were very impressed with the wine selections - the best 2 glasses of wines I ever tasted! The lunch prepared by chef Natasha was out of the world, so delicious! I cant get over the flavor in the sauce she made. Every dish was prepared so elegantly and with so much thoughts into it. Definitely will recommend to others and do it again if we return.

    Mixed reviews on Charleston tour
Great pubs visited. Kobe is very knowledgeable about Charleston history! But the pre-selected food choices were limited and dialogue was very one-way.

This was one of the most interesting & fun experiences we had on our team outing in Charleston. Coby was very personable and fun - and incredibly knowledgeable on all things within the 5 Ps! Would highly recommend.

    A must to do
This was an amazing day. First we met at the Veggie Bin. There were 13 people on the tour. Each person picked something from the store for the chef Natasha. From there Natasha went to the restaurant and we had a walking tour. The food she prepared was spectacular. At the restaurant Uncork there was a wine bar. You get a card then you can choose your wine. There were 4 dishes. Dessert was a pecan square from the local bakery Sugar Bakery.

What a great excursion. We walked to local grocery store and picked ingredients for our dinner. Had a walking tour by Jessica. Then walked to restaurant for meal Cooked by chef Natasha! Uncorked was our final destination for an amazing 5 course meal. Liked the wine wall too. It was a great day.

    Great Family Fun!
Booked the Culinary Kitchen Experience for myself, wife, and two teens (18,15). We had an amazing time learning to make three southern recipes and then an even better time tasting them. The staff were wonderful, engaging, and knowledgeable about not just the food, but Charleston in general. I highly recommend this activity for those looking for an interactive experience with family, friends, or as a team building activity with co-workers. Loved it!

    Please read! It was amazing!
My mom and I decided to do this tour on our Charleston visit, just to give us something fun to do for a few hours. This was one of the best experiences the two of us have ever had. Our guide, Jessica, was fantastic. So charismatic and interested. Her love for Charleston was apparent, and her ability to tell us a story or explain the history of downtown was unmatched. We went into the veggie bin, picked our ingredients (I picked coconut milk, for a challenge) and every part of our surprise 4 course meal (that we chose ingredients for) and dessert was incredible. I would 100% recommend this to anyone interested in something completely unique, getting to do a tour and food in one.

    Enjoyable and entertaining evening
Alex was a great guide. Provided a very entertaining, informative, and knowledgeable tour. He was understanding and accommodating with a mobility issue with one in our group. Very good variety of places and even adjusted the places we visited due to some being father away or extremely busy. Coby joined at the last stop and was also very knowledgeable and a great storyteller. Overall a very enjoyable time. Definitely recommend.

It was mentionned historical tour but we learned about nothing on the history of the city. We walked around the 2 same blocks from one place to another. Despite the fact that the guide was really nice and funny. This is absolutely not worth the price of $70 per person.

Food was good and restaurants were well prepared. Overall the tour was not well prepared for social distancing. All guests were expected to sit shoulder to shoulder, without masks while eating. Tour was light on Charleston history and facts when compared to other tours we’ve done.

So glad that we booked this event. So worth it. The food was great, learning about the history of the city was great as well. Our tour guide, Sommer was the best. She was very informative and entertaining. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone wanting to have a good time, wanting to taste good food and to learn about the city of Charleston. Ask for Sommer, she was the best.

We spent our first day in Charleston on the culinary tour in the French Quarter and it exceeded expectations! Dana, our guide was outstanding...she started the tour with all of us introducing ourselves and telling our favorite comfort food...and that opened the conversation to all things food related! Each restaurant was unique yet representative of southern cooking. Dana have us both a history of the food but put it into the context of the history of Charleston so it was very interesting! Doing this tour on the first day of our trip was perfect because now we have 4 great choices for meals! Well done and highly recommended if you like to eat!

Dale was an outstanding tour guide on our recent Charleston Culinary Tour. She spices up her tour with stories and historical facts about the Old Town, while introducing us to southern food staples like shrimp and grits; cheese fritters; low- country shrimp boils and rich deserts. I'd recommend this tour for all foodies of every age.

Dana was my husband and I's tour guide and we had the most amazing time! There only ended up being one other couple on the walking tour so it was nice to have a small group. We made 4 different stops, the portion size at each restaurant were more than enough and was definitely stuffed by the end of the tour. Each meal was great and we even went back to one of the restaurants we stopped at later in the week. Dana had amazing food recommendations for the rest of our trip too! Next time we come to Charleston we will definitely be interested in doing a food tour with this company again or one of their other tours that sounded awesome!

While all of the food on the tour was quite tasty, if I'm being honest, there was nothing off the beaten path like I've gotten on other food tours in other cities. All of the stops were at pretty popular places within a few blocks of each other, so if you already know about southern food in this area (or have done your homework), you may not be overly wowed by the food or get anything you couldn't get on your own with a few days in the city. What made the tour was Hoon, who as others have mentioned is an absolute gem of a man. His insight into Charleston and his honesty with addressing some of the darker sides of the area's history was an absolute priceless part of my Charleston experience. Overall, a great tour if nothing else to get some local insight.

Did the 11am tour with a group of 8. Masks required while walking in a group outside, didn’t love that but it’s a city requirement. We did sit closely together at each table, so a little faith and trust that the others in the group were taking COVID precautions seriously. Our guide was very knowledgeable and easy to chat with. We loved Poogan’s BBQ and 5Church and would have gone back except we only had 2 days in the city and so many must-try restaurants. Could have skipped the Crab House restaurant, the seafood boil there was just ok. Sample tastings at the Candy Kitchen and Byrd’s were a nice touch. The last place was a dessert bar...Carmella’s. We had red velvet cake there, but being true southerners with grandmothers whose speciality is red velvet, we thought it was too dense. Everyone else not from the south loved it. I would go again to try the carrot cake. Our guide made several recommendations for other restaurants not on the tour. We took her advice and went to Magnolias which was nice for formal, evening dinner, followed by Fleet’s Landing for their famous Huguenot torte. It was similar to a pecan pie, but not as sticky. The drinks there were pleasantly strong.

I have never left a message on any website if that is an indicator of the impression this made on me-and I live here!. Our tour guide, Dana, was so accomodating to the groups needs (ie: disability, patrons need for breaks, etc.) She was so informative, well versed in not only how the foods related to the past but also her historical knowledge of the town. She was able to read the different personalities engaging all and holding everyones interest! This comment just doesn't express our gratitude and satisfaction. Ask for her and remind her boss she needs a raise! PS the food was excellent as expected.

My wife and I are foodies and we did the tour with our two teenaged sons. The food at our three stops was good to excellent, but the tour guide was really the best part. It was like eating in a live show about Charleston on the Food Network. She gave an engaging and continuous two hour + talk about the history of food in the Low Country. All of us were full by the end of the tour. Not sure where the “not enough food” comments are coming from. It advertises “enough food for most people” so if you and your people are buffet types you might want to skip it.
