Overview
Explore Old Charleston Jail, one of the city’s paranormal hot spots, during this guided night tour that takes you back through its history from 1802 to 1939. Hear tales from your guide about the ghosts that allegedly haunt its halls. Prebooking means you can visit on the day and time you’d like, and since this tour is less than an hour long, it’s easy to fit into your busy schedule.
What to Expect
Meet for this guided tour at the Old Charleston City Jail, and get ready to explore its haunted jail cells. Since it will be nighttime, prepare to get even more spooked.

As you walk the hallways, your guide will tell you all about the city’s most famous criminals who lived and died there. You’ll enter the actual cells that held notorious prisoners, such as Lavinia and John Fisher. See if you can catch sight of Lavinia’s ghost, who has been said to still haunt the halls. Some tourgoers have claimed they’ve seen objects move on their own.

Your tour ends back at the entrance of the prison with plenty of time to go out afterward to recover from your eerie adventure.

Tour Guide was Good but Not Spooky

Group was too large, and the tour was not really that spooky. It could have been a smaller group and a little bit more interactive to make it a better experience.More

Didn’t find it scary at apl

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave great history of the jail. I could not believe I wasn’t scared. I felt nauseated the whole time but not scared. So weird!

Delightfully creepy

Our guide, Joy, was absolutely fabulous. She didn't back down when 5 people dropped out of the tour after being in the first room for only a few minutes (kids and parents - typical). The jail itself is terrifying but Joy clearly knows all the...More
