Historic Nashville: Andrew Jackson's Hermitage, Tennessee State Museum, Cemetery

Select Date and Travellers

See the Historic Side of Tennessee & Nashville. History buffs, this one is for you!

Your tour starts at the Tennessee State Museum where you can explore on your own the most significant social, political, economic, and cultural events important to the history of the “Volunteer State.”
Note:We will visit the State Capitol on Mondays when the Tennessee State Museum is closed.

Your tour includes the stately manor of Andrew Jackson, The Hermitage. This was the home of our seventh President, and a favorite son of Tennessee. You’ll view the formal gardens, visit the slave quarters, the original 1804 cabin of the estate, and the site where our President and his wife were laid to rest.

Between the state museum and The Hermitage, you will drive through the Mount Olivet Cemetery, the city’s most famous cemetery and final resting place of prominent leaders from the city’s founding to present day.
  • A stress-free Tennessee plantation tour ideal for first-time visitors
  • Visit the Hermitage and Tennessee State Museum or State Capitol (every Monday tours)
  • Skip visitor center lines with included tickets
  • Hassle-free transportation from Nashville hotels
What to Expect
Your tour begins with pickup from your downtown Nashville hotel. Drive to the Tennessee State Museum to learn about the history of the "Volunteer State." For those visiting on Monday, when the museum is closed, explore the State Capitol, instead. Drive to Nashville's oldest cemetery, Mount Olivet, and see the graves of many leaders. Continue to the Hermitage, a plantation that was once home to former President Andrew Jackson. Visit the museum, explore the mansion, and wander through the grounds. See old farm buildings, slave sites, a tulip grove, church, and more. The tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.

We visited on Sunday, Sept. 29th. We purchased tickets ahead of time on-line. We arrived at 10am, so there was not a lot of foot traffic. We enjoyed the house tour and the duel. I see the duel is only on certain days, so it...More

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Both homes were beautiful, exquisitely maintained, and interesting. Our driver, Steve, was excellent. My only negative comment is that he talks WAAAY too fast. He has a tremendous amount of knowledge, but it was sometimes difficult to understand him because...More

Loved the tours.and I had adequate time on each to roam independently. Lunch was just lunch. Several choices on the buffet, but nothing spectacular.

The buffet was definitely separate. Our guide said that it used to be included, but that some people chose to do something else, so they didn't include it anymore. I don't remember the price but it seems like $12-$15.
