      Bad
No guide showed up at the set time and location. I asked locals about the tour and they did not know it was happening. The email did not work to contact and the phone number went no where. complete waste of money.

Longe Range Traverse in 1 day
Had a fantastic trip with Steve and am now one of the few who have hiked Long Range Traverse (Gros Morne NP) in 1 day. He was great in organizing this bespoke trip for me and is well connected with others to support the logistics behind this trip. If you are in Gros Morne NP I highly recommend to plan your trip/hike with Steve. Thank you Steve for helping getting this off my bucket list.

THE thing to do for Gros Morne’s unspoiled nature experience!
What shall we say? The perfect 3 day hiking experience, all alone (true!) in Gros Morne‘s most beautiful nature, up there in the Tablelands, with this lonely but confy and warm hut as our base camp, with Steve Wheeler & Team as very knowledgeable and most caring guides, helpful and kind (and great cooks ;-)) at every minute of those 3 days. You want to live real Gros Morne off the beaten tracks? For us, this is the number to dial... Even with quite heavy weather for 2 out of 3 days, this was an incredibly beautiful hiking trip! Spectacular! Thanks again, Steve & Colin, and all the best for your further projects! Don‘t forget to call us when you go for the High Tatra... :-) Swana & Julian from Munich, Germany PS Did you know that there are lots of carnivorous plants in New Foundland?

      Great Physical Challenge!
Our experience with our guide Andy of Gros Morne Outdoor Company was hiking up the Tablelands, then across the top of the Tablelands to a hut where we spent the night. This was an 8 hour adventure. We stopped to filter drinking water, have snacks, share stories and marvel at the fact that we were the only sign of life ... on top of this world! Andy was exceptional! He was perceptive, focusing on our needs, adapted as needed and ensuring we were enjoying the experience. If you want an authentic outdoor adventure in Gros Morne, contact Andy and he will create a memorable experience for you.

Review of Gros Morne Outdoor Company
Gros Morne Outdoor Company took me along unmarked trails across the Long Range in Gros Morne National Park. Steve Wheeler, my guide and owner of the company, was fantastic. He sent me a list of what was required well in advance of my trip to help me get organized. We met the day before our 4-day hiking trip to distribute food and other equipment in our back packs. The meals Steve prepared daily were excellent. The tents were first-class as well. Steve ensured that we hiked at a pace that I was comfortable with and pointed out natural features throughout the day that I might be interested in photographing. He was an excellent conversationalist as well and we had great chats as we walked over the Long Range. In total, we hiked 43 kilometers and it felt like nothing thanks to the thoughtful organization and preparation of the Gros Morne Outdoor Company.

      Long Range Traverse
Just completed the Long Range Traverse with Steve. This is a spectacular and challenging hike, requiring navigation skills which are a bit beyond us. Doing the trip with Steve was just perfect. Steve is a great outdoorsman and knows the route and the conditions perfectly, so we felt completely relaxed. He is also interesting, funny, cheerful, smart and has great judgement. We are so happy to have had this experience. Thanks, Steve.

      The greatest hike in Canada!
This was my first time ever doing a hike like this, and the Gros Morne Long Range Traverse with Steve was absolutely the best way to get initiated! What really elevated this hike was Steve and his thoughtfulness, knowledge, and experience. As others have written, this isn't a casual hike. But Steve was always so funny and supportive, and really kept us moving forward. Little touches like the wonderful pre-prepared meals made by him and his wife added a touch of luxury to the rugged environment. Make sure you ask him about his cheesecake, it's amazing! This is truly a one of a kind Canadian experience, and it really is more about your mental state and your willingness to experience the rugged eastern coast than your physical fitness. Edmund Hillary wrote that it isn't the mountain we conquer, but ourselves. If that quote moves you, then you need to book this hike with this tour company. Do it now, you won't regret it! Thanks Steve!

Steve and Gros Morne Outdoors are amazing.
I did the long range traverse in Gros Morne National Park with Steve while traveling solo. Had an excellent time: Steve is a very knowledgeable guide, a great guy and made the trip worthwhile and extremely fun. I have been recommending him to all my friends considering visiting the area.

Gros Morne - Long Range Traverse
My friend and I had a wonderful time on this trip. Our guides and trip organizers made us feel safe, happy and that we were in good hands the whole time. We were able to see the remote beauty along the Long Range Traverse and were adequately prepared for the type of things we would encounter (weather, terrain, etc). The hike is challenging, so it is not for the faint of heart, but we were pleased with the physical and mental challenges that the trip provided. Truly a once in a lifetime experience!

      South West Gulch Hut!! What?!
The views of the Tablelands, and Trout River Pond were amazing!!! Worth the trip alone just to see untamed nature just around the corner. Staying in a hut as opposed to camping made a huge difference as well... it had a wood-stove for heat, a proper propane stove for heat, and propane lanterns for lighting. I highly recommend taking advantage of any part of this experience you can. The bunks on the second floor were comfortable and the place is clean. Tucked in a shelter of trees. The location and surrounding nature offers a variety of terrain. Being able to dry by a wood stove and a warm sleep easily offsets the the demanding toll of accessing such beauty. The simple luxuries the lodge offers guarantees I'm going in again, and very soon :). Life doesn't always take the beaten path, why would you? :)

      The Long Range Traverse
So much to say, so little room. Andy and Steve are doing a great job! Our group consisted of Andy, my husband and I. We're a fit middle aged couple that really wanted to do this hike but didn't want the stress of navigating our way. Like I told one young hiker we ran into, we don't have the energy to backtrack and bushwack! Other hikers we saw really seemed to appreciate the opportunity to talk to Andy about the route to make sure they were going the right way. It can be deceiving because sometimes you can follow a game trail but sometimes you have to turn righ but the game trail goes straight. Steve put all the food together and Andy did a great job cooking it. He even added a bit of moose jerky which made it amazing!! It was all delicious and so welcoming after a day of hiking. I quickly learned to really trust Andy's judgement about everything. From when it was best to call it a day to where the best place to cross the river was. He really quickly figured out who we are and our abilities in order to guide us the best. I really appreciated his patience. There were a lot of extra things he did for us which really completed our experience. He picked us up and dropped us off at the airport. I thought there were shuttles but apparently they don't really exist. Plus he showed us around Norris Point and Rocky Harbour. The hike itself was great. If you're older like us be aware that the terrain is ankle turning, knee twisting uneven kind of stuff. I found I had to really concentrate to watch for the holes. My husband has stronger ankles and better balance than I do so he seemed to be unbothered by it. The bugs were bad so I would advise bringing a bug net for your head. If you manage it meaning you don't wait until you're about to go crazy before putting it on you won't get frustrated and will be happier at the end of the day. Sometimes Andy would be up ahead a bit. I figured he was scouting out the way to go and then would wait for us to catch up. There's no real hurry as the days aren't terribly long so stop and look around now and then. Remember you are probably only doing this once in your life. Thank you Andy for a memorable hike. Thank you to the moose who showed up as well!

Natalie and Steve were wonderful tour guides. This was my first time paddle boarding and they made me feel so much as ease - it was so easy and fun to do. Whether you are young or old this experience is awesome! If you are in Norris Point or even Gros Morne Park in general you will miss out if you don’t try this out. Super fun - bys are awesome - they also offer picnics on your journey.
