Overview
See the San Francisco Bay’s island museum—the once notorious federal prison, Alcatraz—before sampling some of the city’s finest craft beers. This all-day tour will put you in good company, with just 12 participants and an expert beer nerd to help you select potential offerings. Ferry transportation, admission to Alcatraz, beer and snacks are included.
What to Expect
Board your ferry at Pier 33 and enjoy postcard-worthy views of San Francisco and Golden Gate Bridge during your brief voyage across the bay. Walk from the dock up the steep hill to the building’s entrance and grab a pair of headphones to learn about the infamous inmates once housed at “The Rock,” including Al Capone, Robert Stroud and the three inmates whose escape was immortalized in pop lore.

After catching your return ferry, prepare for some excellent beer and a guided stroll through neighborhoods that could include North Beach, SoMa and the Lower Haight. Where you imbibe will depend on the day of your tour, but options include Thirsty Bear, an organic brewery serving Spanish cuisine, Beer 39, a beer bar with a wide-ranging menu, or Barrel Head, a brewery with an eclectic beer list and a menu that includes sandwiches, burgers and salads.

Amazing way to experience San Francisco

Alcatraz was amazing - would reccomend going earlier in the day or the night tour. However the best way to spend the afternoon was the beer tour!!!

A great day!

Walking beer tour was so great, we learned a ton about the city and its history AND got to try 10 different beers from California breweries! Our guide Mike was awesome, super knowledgeable about beer and San Francisco. Highly recommend this tour!
