Overview

On this whale-watching tour, cruise out to the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary in search of humpback and fin whales, as well as harbor porpoises and Atlantic white-sided dolphins. You’ll learn about the wildlife from a naturalist guide. The high-speed catamaran helps you save time for other vacation adventures, and you can pack light, as snacks and refreshments are available for onboard purchase.

What to Expect
Make your way to the Boston’s conveniently located Central Wharf, where you’ll use your prepaid tour voucher to board a high-speed catamaran. The state-of-the-art boat allows you to access the sanctuary in just a half a day (slower boats take a full day).

Find a comfortable seat on one of three outdoor decks or inside the climate-controlled cabin. As you ride, scan the Massachusetts Bay for signs of marine life. Possible sightings include humpback whales, fin whales, minke whales, pilot whales, harbor porpoises, and Atlantic white-sided dolphins. A naturalist guide will teach you about the animals’ biology and behavior.

Pack light for the tour, as you can purchase food and beverages from an onboard snack bar. After your tour, head back to shore.

Very informative well worth the money

Saw several whales and appreciated the information that was provided about the whales. I had a little sea sickness at the start of the trip but they provided lozenges that helped and it got better. Wonderful overall experience.

Fantastic and lots of whales!

This was a great afternoon out in the ocean. We saw several whales. Although just note that the bow gets very crowded and people don't tend to move so with little kids it is hard for them to see them from there. The captains typically...More

Wow. Unbelieveable

One of the highlights of our visit to Boston. The hour and half boat ride to the Shellenswagon Marine Bank was a bit bumpy, but in the end it was well worth it. Whales galore, and many close up to our boat. The guide was...More

The total trip took around 3-4 hours. A lot of time is spent getting to and from where the whales are. We were pleased to see a family of hump back whales but not only do you have to wait in turn for other boats to move... More

Contrary to an earlier post you are NOT guaranteed to see whales, neither are you guaranteed that the tour will even take place as it is weather dependent.
