So pleased I booked this tour and delighted with Nicola (male) who was our guide for the 3-4 hours. From circumnavigating queues to top tips for getting ready to disembark through to his personal passion the trip was so much better. Small group and felt as though we were all absorbed in his stories and knowledge of the locations. Ferry was on time and great views and topped off with Nicola offering to take a picture of the 2 of us rather than another selfie with half the image missing! Good value and highly recommend to do it with a guide as you totally get a better understanding of the history of the 2 locations. Thank you Nicola-top 5 stars from Us.

I've done a Statue of Liberty visit before on my own and it was stressful and crazy busy! Setting up this scheduled tour with a pro made it so much easier to know how to beat the crowds and find the best photo locations. Our tour guide James spent almost 4 hours with us between Liberty and Ellis Island and was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about what we were seeing. I would highly recommend doing an organized tour, and hopefully you end up with James too! Pro Tip: Go as early as possible in day to avoid enormous afternoon crowds.

My American adventure to ' NYC ' was from July 1 - 5. The first of my activities was to visit ' Liberty and Ellis island's '. I had pre booked with ' Statue city cruises ' through my ' New York CityPASS '. Arriving at ' Battery Park ' on a ' Top view ' bus I made my way to ' Statue city cruises ' check in area which was straight forward with plenty of signs. When I arrived there were two queues, one for the box office and the pre booked one which is best. You are greeted by a staff member who scans your print off/ phone and then it is to the security line. Once through there it is to the queue for the next ferry to ' Liberty island '. I found we were not waiting long with the ferry's pretty constant. To ' Liberty island ' to drop off/ pick up, taking the previous group to ' Ellis island '. My time on 'Liberty island ' was magic. When I arrived there was no " visitors must return to dock to depart at such and such a time etc ". My tour was at 2PM, maybe a little later a departing time was given ?. I was free to explore. While there I found ' Show time pictures ', these are professional photographers. They will take photos of you with ' The statue of Liberty ' or ' The One world observatory ' etc in the background. A little later you collect your photos from the kiosk in the store. The store is great with lots of memorabilia but expensive too. There is also ' The statue of Liberty ' museum to explore. Once you have finished on ' Liberty island ' you can return to the dock for the next ferry to ' Ellis island '. Again, on arrival at ' Ellis island ' there was no " visitors must return to dock by " announcement. I was free to explore the museum which has exhibits from immigrants who passed through ' Ellis island '. There are also interactive exhibits which playback audio recollections of charcters. Once you have finished on ' Ellis island ' you return to the dock to catch a ferry back to ' Battery Park '. My ' Statue city cruises ' ticket was for ' Battery Park to Liberty Island/ Ellis Island ' returning to ' Battery Park '. ' Statue city cruises ' also operate ferries from ' New Jersey ' too. And there maybe flexibility with tickets for just ' Battery Park to Liberty Island ' and back.

We did the 2hr tour on a rainy day in December. Our tour guide was very friendly and made the wet ferry ride fun. He gave us some tips on how to use the ferry and avoid the long lines. While it was obvious our guide was passionate about New York History, I felt like we did not get enough additional information to make it worth the price. The first hour of the tour is just making it through security and riding the ferry over, so not much of a tour there. The tour on the island was better. Our guide did a great job telling the story of construction, but the museum also tells the same story, so I recommend saving your money and spending 30 minutes in the museum. The best part of the tour were all the little bits of NYC history that weren't specifically related to the island or statue. But in my opinion these little bits did not add up to the $60 differential between a ferry ticket and the tour price.

Thank you for sharing this fascinating perspective. We appreciate that you got a lot out the guide's tour and are sad to hear that you also didn't get much out of it. It does sound like taking guided tours are not something that are of interest to you. It is great to learn this about yourself. And wonderful for you to share it with everyone here.

Charlie was a great historian and extremely enthusiastic about the birth of our country.. I really enjoy the humor he used during the tour and he often required crowd participation he made it a very interesting tour …he also was a very kind man that went above and beyond I was in Newyork city with my mother for her birthday who is handicapped and he really made her experience feel like she was vip he took very good care of us putting us at the front of the lines and keeping our safety a priority. He made us feel very safe during our tour although she had some limitations in what she could do physically Charlie made us feel like we were still part of the group …I would recommend this tour to all my friends visiting newyork and wanna visit Ellis island and the Statue of Liberty !!!

We took the 930 experience to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis island. The boat was on time the ride over was smooth we had a great day with weather and the statue was beautiful. After about an hour with our tour guide who was awesome Brian he let us room around for about a half hour on our own to see the museum gift shop use the restrooms then we met back at the boat hopped aboard and went to Ellis Island. Once we got there he pulled us all aside and took us to a small seating area and gave us the Ellis Island history and a presentation that was really nice and then we were on our own for the rest of the afternoon to explore at our own pace and then head back anytime we want. I would highly recommend this to her and I would also recommend requesting Brian as your tour guide

This was a great tour of New York's most iconic site! Overall, I think it is definitely worth the money for a guide for Lady Liberty and Ellis Island, there is so much history that it is hard to get from a guide book or fixed installations. Our guide, Chris Tipp, was knowledgable and engaging, made sure we were in the right place at the right time to be at the front of every queue and turned out to be a pretty good photographer as well.
The only drawback is that we only had around half an hour in the museum on the Statue of Liberty when we could have done with maybe an hour and a half, but that would have extended the tour. You can have longer in the Ellis Island Museum which was a lot larger than I expected, so allow tine for that.

A little confusing at the start because where to pick up the physical tickets was not really clear. We got them though and the lady (Amanda I think) was great. She pointed out Jet our guide and we were 20 minutes early for the 10am tour so we went to the gift shop and restroom. When we came back I was a bit unsure where Jet the guide was at 9:55am then thought I saw him and registered with him but his name was David. At 10:02am he checked our tickets and Amanda looked again at our booking because it turned out Jet had set off and there was a Jet and a David lol… weather was awful, we thoroughly enjoyed David’s knowledge and sharing of stories around the history of Liberty and the area. Also much appreciated the emergency poncho available and how David used the structures to shield the group as much as possible from the wind and rain!! He also made sure everyone got pictures beneath the statue ok.
My top tips: 1) If the weather is rainy, dress for it with the right coat and clothing, because my jeans were soaked and my feet wet in my sneakers!! 2) You go through airport style security so think of that and maybe even check the restrictions that apply. 3) Have a good quality umbrella that will survive being blown inside out repeatedly! 4) Take lots of pics and enjoy the commentary from the guide.

I honestly got so much more out of my visit to the Statue and Ellis because we chose to take this tour instead of just figuring it all out for ourselves. In the midst of a week of visiting museums, looking at exhibits, and taking in everything in NYC, it was a treat to have someone entertaining and charming (John F) to just tell us the story of how the monument and island came to be and bring things to life. But of course you can also spend time in the museums of either island to learn more and be sure not to miss the original torch in the S.O.L. museum. Also, if you're thinking of researching ancestors at Ellis Island, know that the time on their systems does cost, it's not free.

Emmelie was very passionate and details about the history and information about the statue. Such as the statue is not build in US but in France instead. She provide detail instruction on how we should get back and fort between island and museum is top notch. I would recommend this tour since it include admission to the cruise and museum on both island.

Are we really still being bullied ,I mean required into wearing a muzzle I mean mask? I was looking so forward to taking my family here from out of state until I saw that muzzles are still required. I am hoping the site hasn't been updated, but I doubt it. Very disappointing to those of us who are over it.

We were there at the beginning of June when we were asked to wear masks whilst on the ferry but didn't need to wear them at The Statue of Liberty or on Ellis Island. Hope this information helps.

Another question, if I but 30-minute essential tour, does it mean we will have a guide for 30 minutes and then we will go and see the statue of liberty and Ellis island by ourselves.

Hey! I just want to ask: what is the difference between a 2-Hour guide tour and a 4-Hour guide tour around a statue of liberty and Ellis Island?
Hi! We will be arriving in NY from Canada at 8am and as our hotel check in is only after 3pm we would like to take a tour to Statue of Liberty. It is a place to keep our luggage?
Thank You

Hello, my ' Statue city cruises ' tour was a ticket for the ferry to ' Liberty island ', then when I was ready a ferry to ' Ellis island '. When finished on ' Ellis island ' a return ferry to ' Battery Park '. With my ticket I just arrived at each island and was free to explore. That maybe the ' Statue city cruises ' ticket for you because you can explore at your pace and not be following a guide. There are the guided tours though if you want them.

Hello, my ' Statue city cruises ' ticket covered a ferry to ' Liberty and Ellis ' islands and a return ferry to ' Battery Park '. A guided tour is another option and visitors meet the guide at a spot near where the ferry arrives. There are plenty of crew members on board the ferry and at the dock who can point you to the meeting spot.
Hi, how much would it be to go up the crown and torch on the statue?

Hello, when I made my choice of ' Statue city cruises ' tickets for ' Liberty island ' I pre booked so I had my print off to be scanned on arrival. The ' Statue city cruises ' website shows all the different ' Statue of Liberty ' packages available and prices. If you don't pre book there is a box office on site to buy tickets but from my experience I was happy I pre booked. I arrived and saw two queues, pre booked where your scanned and your admitted. The other where you join a long queue.
