The CityPASS is a great option if you’re planning to visit at least five of the included attractions. It makes booking easy and usually saves money compared to buying individual tickets. However, in hindsight, we only really wanted to do three of the included attractions, so it may not have been the best value for us.

One thing to consider is that one skyscraper view is usually enough—for us, the Empire State Building was plenty. If you’re unsure, it might be worth comparing prices on travel sites before committing, as separate bookings can sometimes be cheaper.

That said, the booking process was very easy, and the flexibility to change reservations up to 24 hours before was great. Once activated, you have nine days to use the pass, which is more than enough time.

Overall, it’s a very convenient option and generally a money-saver if you plan to do five attractions.

The New York CityPass is an amazing way to see all the main attractions, purchase the pass, you need to reserve times for some places( but this can be done on the day for most) I recommend taking a screenshot of your pass to keep on your phone, most places have free wi-fi when you are there but incase you have no Internet connection it is advisable.
Timings, to maybe help plan your trip.
9/11 memorial I would say you need a morning or afternoon here would recommend to get there early before it gets busy, Statue of liberty boat tour takes roughly 4hrs, Other places like the empire state building, Top of The Rock Couple of hours. ( if you want to book a photo on the beam on top of the rock not included in the citypass, I advise you book in advance as its very popular)
American Museum of Natural History we only spent a couple of hours here but if this your thing and want see as much of it as possible you would need at least a day here although the Museum staff say 2 days to see everything.

Worth the money. You get 5 tickets, two mandatory ones (empire state and natural history museum) and then you can use the three other tickets for a variety of 8 different museums. Use the app to assign tickets and qr codes

We found the pass was expensive and didn’t enable you to enter the places it claims you can. For example , we were unable to use the pass for The Rock or the Intrepid in-spite of the fact we hadn’t gone over the requisite number of visited places. Additionally, in November none of the queues were long so it wasn’t an advantage to queue jump and so many places offered senior prices the pass ended up more expensive.
I would not recommend it , especially when going in the winter.

I apologize for the late reply on this. We're sorry you didn't have a good experience using CityPASS. Top of the Rock and Intrepid are both included attractions and should always accepted valid, unexpired CityPASS tickets as long as all the choice options have not been used, as you noted. I'd be happy to look further into this if you would like to send your order number and email address to alicia@citypass.com.

The pass is worthwhile as it will save you a lot of money in the long run when it comes to admission charges etc. It also enables you to book attractions in an easy way and all on the same APP. If you book Empire State Building with the citypass please note that you can visit it in the day and then go back at night with the pass at no extra cost. This does have to be on the same day/night.

It is a scam! Stay away! The refund policy is a joke!

I bought a NYC C3 city pass for 3 attractions for family of 4 and paid $475 CAD for it. We had reservations for all the attractions in advance but due to bad weather one of the attraction i.e. cruise to statue of liberty was cancelled and we didn't get any other time slot for any other day during our stay in NYC which is not our fault.

So, I raised a partial refund request and was hoping to receive a third of money back what I pay for but to my surprise the refund policy is a scam. They charged me the door price for the two attractions we visited while calculating refund and additional $50 for handling fees and I just got mere $47 CAD as a refund.

And I agree with some of the reviewers that you have to wait in line for hours to enter even though you have reservations in advance.

We are very sorry that the original refund amount was miscalculated. The amount has been corrected, and the refund has been processed.

We used the city pass for a week during our family trip to NYC. We had booked the city pass a few weeks before our visit and we had reserved the different attractions a week before. We even changed the day of an attraction, and everything is done very well on the app. We had no problems on site and everything went very well! The only fault that we can find is that everyone does the same attractions (top of the rock, liberty island, empire state building etc.) which means that we find ourselves in queues of Very long waits. And the city pass is not a skip-the-line! so you have to queue like everyone else: the only advantage is that you have already bought your tickets, and you pass faster than those who don't have one and you have no risk of getting delayed : you already have your tickets. In summary: it's still worth it, even financially, and try to reserve times where there will be as few people as possible!

All of our family thought the whole booking of visiting slot processing on the day had worked really well with our plans. I would recommend turning up to each tourist attraction before 10am as we didn’t have to wait too long in the queue and got a slot straight away.
We had to use the explorer pass rather than the unlimited due to not being able to have consecutive days of visiting the attractions so the explorer worked better for us. The attractions were at New York and we visited The Edge, Big bus tour Uptown and Downtown, 911 Museum & Harbour Lights Cruise.
We did the Big bus tour on our first full day which allowed us to get our bearings, The Edge was amazing but we preferred Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Centre) at sunset which we had to pay for extra as wasn’t in the explorer pass, 911 exhibition was harrowing but glad we went to pay our respects but the highlight was the Harbour Lights cruise. Enjoy

A very easy way to book the top attractions and save some money
Once you have downloaded the App it is easy to book everything via the app.
This also conveniently holds your passes in one place.
Make sure you book venues in advance – you can make changes via the app if needed (obviously subject to timing and availability).
I looked at other pass options but this seemed to be most convenient insomuch as it gives you the tickets online, whereas you still had to que with some of the other passes.
You will need to work out what you are going to see but if that matches what’s on the pass then do it that way.

Visited:
Empire State twice – Morning & Evening. It is up to the Observatory level. We probably would not have gone twice if we didn’t have the pass, but as our hotel was close this was convenient. If you do it once then the ‘saving’ is not so large.
Top of the Rock observation deck
9/11 Memorial & Museum
Circle Line Sightseeing Cruise (We did this instead of the Ferry Access to Statue of Liberty as it was a bigger saving. We did the Ferry Access outside of the pass)
American Museum of Natural History – We only did this one as it was included, otherwise it was not on our list. It is worth a visit if you have time (You do need to que to get the ticket for this one - wasn't long)

If you truly value your vacation time, buy tickets directly from the museums websites. When you go to the Met or the Museum of Natural History, they will make you get in line to scan your city pass and then give you a printed ticket. On a busy day at the museum of natural history, that could cost you two hours. If you buy tickets online from the museum website, you can skip this . We waited two hours to simply show our city pass at the ticket desk , when had we had tickets from their website we could have gone on in after the security screening. It ruined our experience there; felt tired and rushed. The savings is not worth it. Buy tickets directly from the websites and either download tickets or print them.
