I decided to book the Fly/Drive tour with this company. Great people, very informative. I also added the Homestead option which would allow for a additional time to view the Aurora Borealis/Northern Lights. I would absolutely recommend this tour - It is well worth the cost -

We checked in quickly at the airport and boarded the small plane after a briefing by the friendly staff at the airport reception. The pilot flew at low altitude and we were able to see below quite well. He explained throughout our flight and also tipped the wing on one side so

Thank you pennking for choosing Northern Alaska Tour Company for your Arctic Circle Aurora Fly Drive Adventure - Southbound. We are sorry to hear the logistics did not seem to connect on your day of travel. Without knowing the date you traveled I cannot see if weather, road conditions, or road closure delayed the connection. But, what I can take away from your post is the briefing you heard in Fairbanks wasn't clear on the logistics that yes, you would be meeting a new guide at the Arctic Circle and for that I am sorry it wasn't clear in the briefing. We appreciate your review and are glad it was a memorable visit. Thank you, Kathy

I’ll start with the positive. The company was very accommodating when I had to reschedule due to family illness. The fly over was very cool. Now the moderate. Be a history buff if you go. You’ll learn a lot about the Alaska pipeline. They even entertain you with a video on

Dear Season101, thank you for your review and sharing it from your perspective. You can be a history buff, an out door enthusiast, and an avid traveler to enjoy Alaska's Arctic. And yes, part of the adventure is the remoteness of the region meaning one is leaving the conveniences of modern living behind to enjoy an area where one can enjoy the fresh air, learn about the region which is home to moose, arctic fox, bear, and caribou, discover the delicate flowers that only have 3 months of sunlight to grow or the permafrost that is just below the surface. With the Homestead Aurora we do not market it as a photography tour - so you are right if someone is looking for that no this is not the one to take; however, 3 features need to be in place for good aurora viewing - travel during aurora season (August 21 - April 21 when our nights are black enough to see the lights), be away from city lights (Joy is off the grid so very minimal artificial lighting since it needs to be self generated), and stay out during the peak activity (the hour or so on either side of solar midnight -- which is why most Aurora tours do not get back until after 3:30 am or later). If you are looking for the aurora you don't want to come home earlier. We have some great photos of the aurora around the trading post. Then next while you are waiting what do you want do do or learn. The focus on the Homestead aurora is learning about life in Alaska's Arctic, what it took to forge a home in the middle of nowhere, what it means to live in Alaska today. Thank you for joining Northern Alaska Tour Company. We hope you enjoyed the rest of your Alaskan Adventure
