Overview
New Orleans can be an intimidating place to tackle on your own, especially when you’re interested in the city’s deep voodoo roots. This tour makes it easy by guaranteeing a spot on a guided tour that not only dives deep into the Big Easy’s voodoo culture, but also quickly takes you to famous graves at St. Louis Cemetery No. 1.
What to Expect
Your tour meets at the corner of Royal and Conti Streets in New Orleans' French Quarter, where your guide first shows you some of the well-known architecture of the area, such as the Creole townhouses and shotgun homes.

As you go, your guide shares stories about the city’s rich voodoo history and famous practitioners of the religion such as Marie Laveau. Your guide takes you to St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, one of the city’s oldest cemeteries, which opened in 1789. At the cemetery, see the famous tomb of Laveau, as well as other former voodoo masters. It's often difficult to view the city's cemeteries without a guide, and this tour ensures you'll not only be able to enter quickly, but also find the most interesting tombs.

Before your tour ends, see more crypts and mausoleums in the cemetery, pop into a voodoo ritual shop, and stop by Congo Square.

Your tour ends in the French Quarter near Jackson Square, and your guide can provide directions back to the starting point or your hotel or recommendations for what to do next.

Lackluster

The tour was okay. Our guide was quite eccentric; he kept also touching the little boys in our group. The boy would tense up each time, it was inappropriate. He had no sense of personal/respectful space! Which made everyone uncomfortable, he focused on the sexual...More

Graveyard Tour

This tour is a great way to learn about the history of New Orleans and Louisiana. Our guide, Trevor, is especially learned and animated when describing the what and why of burials in New Orleans. This went back to early settlement up to Hurricane Katrina...More

I didn’t do the Voodoo tour, only cemetery tour. I heard it’s more about myths and legends and the cemetery was more about the history of the city and great stories of the past. Whichever tour you do it will be great. Enjoy.
