It happened to be a beautiful day, a small sprinkle during the swamp tour, but otherwise hot and humid and very sunny. Recommend bringing water and SPF. There is a snack bar available at both destinations if you do not bring snacks with you.

This day, we did the swamp tour first then the plantation second. It was a 30 minute drive from the city to the swamp tour and then one hour from the swamp tour to the plantation. The ride was comfortable and the tour bus was air-conditioned.

I would definitely recommend doing this if you're interested in getting out of the city into something quieter. All tour guides on this tour were very knowledgeable and there is some free time to explore the plantation. Very relaxed experience with some very nice folks.

This tour was well presented from the time we were picked up till we were delivered back to our hotels. The Oak Pantation was an excellent exhibition of how the people existed and worked and lived in the plantation. Time was allowed for us to pick up a meal for lunch before being taken to the swamp boat tour. Our guide gave us and overview of the swamplands before and after the disastrous hurricane and environmental disaster that occurred thereafter. We saw alligators in the wild and many different types of bird species. The speed of the boats is exhilarating at full throttle and the ability of the boats to turn is amazing. Well worth the days’ outing

Great day out. We were picked up at 10.40. Firstly we went to the swamps where we had some free time to enjoy the sunshine and have a look round at the alligators sleeping in the sunshine. We got on a boat at 12 noon and taken thru the swamps where we saw alligators being fed and raccoons and pigs running wild in the swampland. Our guide was Dustin he was very informative and humorous at the same time. The boat trip lasted 1.5 hours and we loved every minute. We left the swamps and taken on the bus to Oak Alley plantation. We learnt all about the slave trade and life in the big house. Our guide there was Anthony again very informative and helpful. We spent 1.5 hours there 30 minutes of which we were taken into the big house under Anthony’s guidance. A most enjoyable day out. Good value for money a must if you are visiting New Orleans

The first driver who collected us from the hotel was grumpy and unwelcoming - not a great 1st impression.
Thankfully, Keith took over and he was an absolute delight - what a lovely man. We felt very safe with his driving.

The swamp tour was amazing, one of the highlights of our holiday. Reggie held our attention from the outset. We were given loads of information about the area as we sailed along. He had a great sense of humour! The boat was clean and we felt safe throughout.

The plantation was a big disappontment. No original furnishings/items in the house at all. We were rushed from room to room and found ourselves back outside within 15 minutes - really poor value for money. The narrative was boring and robotic. From doing some reading since the visit, there would appear to be far better plantations to visit in the area.

The bus that took us to and from the sites could have been cleaner. The floors and windows were a bit grubby. We kept our masks on throughout the journies.

We had a fantastic time. A few items to note that I didn't know ahead of time.
1. Oak Alley was a little over an hour from New Orleans and the swamp tour was 1.5 hours from the Plantation. After the swamp tour it was 30 min back to New Orleans. A lot more bus riding than I anticipated. You may want to bring snacks and water. Our tour started at 10:45 and we got back around 7pm.
2. The time at the Plantation goes pretty quick especially if you want to eat lunch. It's the only opportunity to do so.
3. You will likely get wet on the swamp boat.
4. Bring some cash for tips (bus driver and air boat captain at minimum)

The swamp boat tour was the highlight of the day. Beautiful scenery and some excitement. Trey our guide was informative and funny. We enjoyed our ride and would do it again.

Dec. 2021 • Family
We are a large family. We have four teenage boys and a ten year old girl and all of us had a blast on the Oak Alley and Swamp Tour. First, I want to note that the pick up and drop off location is in the French Quarter in New Orleans. Get there early enough to get breakfast and plan dinner after. There are many places with local delicacies. Second, you will be picked up and toured around on a very nice charter bus (bring your phone charging cord), because your batteries may run low with all the photos and there are plug in outlets at every seat. We had Jim (with one M) as our tour guide and he was absolutely hilarious and had a plethora of knowledge regarding pretty much every sight we came across. We learned about the French Quarter, the graveyards, numerous plantations we had passed and so much more from him. One of my teen’s favorite parts was the Mardi Gras parade that Jim did on the bus on the way to drop us back off at the end of the night. The tour starts at the Oak Alley Plantation, which I read was one of the top 45 most beautiful places in the U.S, before we went and that was not an understatement. There is a restaurant there and a cafe that has sandwiches so you will need to eat there and you will have time. You will spend a bit of time on the tour bus, but our tour guide Jim made it seem like a learning experience. We were fascinated and amazed at the facts we learned. This is a must do if you are in the area and want to learn some history.

Would give the swamp tour a 5-star rating, but the day trip included the plantation visit in the morning. The transportation was a bit disorganized; we were given a 30-minute window to be picked up, so we were in front of our hotel at 8:15 am as requested. We finally got picked up at 9:15. The plantation was nice enough; the view of the oaks from the balcony was wonderful, and the short tour was interesting. The slave quarters were done well, with descriptions that personalized their experience.
The swamp tour was great! Our guide Justin was knowledgeable and entertaining, and that was the highlight of the day trip. The busses weren't there when the swamp tour was over, and then the drivers took a long time to decide which bus would go to which hotel. In the meantime, it was so hot that people just got on the busses to cool off and they left without organizing the stops. Overall a nice day, but could be much better organized.

This tour was very good. First starting with the bus pick up from our hotel. Clean buses, knowledgable (and funny) drivers and no crazy driving.
Our driver explained so many interesting facts and stories with regard to our visit to NO.
Upon arrival, complete instructions were given to the group as well as tickets and meeting places after the plantation tour. This tour was short and sweet but very informative. The grounds are immaculately kept as well as the house. I would have liked to stay for the enslaved quarters conversation but time didn't permit it
I would highly recommend the large airboat swamp tour. Captain Matt was very knowledgeable and somewhat funny (haha just kidding Matt). I'm glad I didn't sit in the front of the boat with the flying reptiles lol. His interesting facts about the swamp and his "from the heart" stories about growing up there were most welcome. I would encourage everyone to take the airboat tour! Rain or Shine it was one of the high points of our trip.

Keith was our driver for the day and an excellent one at that. He got us to our destination safely and smoothly. Tony was our tour guide for the large airboat swamp ride. He was incredibly knowledgable about gators and their habitats, even giving us a show by playing with a few!! The Oak Alley Plantation was breathtaking and we loved every part of it. All in all, it was a phenominal day. Highly recommend!!

This review is to provide a little education. I truly enjoyed both parts of the tour. Oak Ally Plantation was beautiful and picturesque with its' sprawling gardens. I enjoyed our house tour and self-guided grounds tour. It was very educational to the times. As far as the airboat ride. It was absolutely amazing. A must do for going to Louisiana!! Do it!! Captain Chaz was wonderful and we really enjoyed every part. We got to see tons of alligators and watch him interact with one on the bank! No fear! Also, Alligators eat marshmallows. We even got to hold a baby alligator. They were so cute. He did a great job and I felt safe the entire time. Okay, so here comes the educational part. It costs $25.00 to go to Oak Ally Plantation and $55.00 to do the large airboat ride which gives you a grand total of $80.00. Whereas the rest of the cost (a little over $40.00) is transport. I understand it is a little frustrating getting on and off several buses and the disorganization of the transport, but I really couldn't complain. It would cost much more to get an Uber to go to both places or rent a car. It could be worse.
