Oak Alley Plantation Tour from New Orleans

    What to Expect
After hotel pickup in New Orleans, drive to the Oak Alley Plantation, located among the Great River Road sugar plantations alongside the Mississippi River.

On arrival, stroll under majestic, 300-year-old oak trees and take a 40-minute tour of the opulent mansion with a guide dressed in period costume. The Greek Revival architecture of the Big House was built in 1837 and later restored in 1925.

Wander the 25-acre (10-hectare) grounds at your own pace during your free time. Visit the blacksmith shop, snap photos of antique farm equipment, or peruse exhibits on slavery and the Civil War at your leisure. Grab lunch and beverages at the restaurant or cafe (own expense) before the return drive to New Orleans.

Our bus driver was very talkative, not really that interesting though. It was a long way out of New Orleans but a scenic enough trip. The plantation itself was quite interesting, a short tour through the big house.More

We do not own or operate the tour of the house. We only provide safe and comfortable ground service to Oak Alley plantation, provide the entrance fee and make sure that you know when where and how to do your tour. The trip is long,...More

Our guide was terrific, explaining history on the way there. Then the guides at both plantations were very good as well. Heartbreaking to visit the slave cabins and know how people were forced to live in such inhumane conditions while their owners lived in such...More

It's a beautiful place. The transportation was correct. The driver was a nice person; he gave us information about the places we were getting through. But I can't understand why it was so difficult to communicate the piking-up point: it was impossible to set it...More

If you don’t have a car to do the tour yourself, this tour company is a great option! We were lucky to have a great driver, who was amusing and full of information. He was a local of the city, and had grown up and...More

Let me start off by saying that Oak Alley is amazingly beautiful and you will not regret going. However, there are other ways to get to the plantation and I highly recommend you try driving yourself or using a different company. We were an hour...More
