Overview

Paddle through the bayous of Louisiana on this kayaking tour of the Manchac and Maurepas swamps. Trade the bustle of the Big Easy for the lush serenity of cypress forests located just a short drive away from New Orleans. No kayak experience is needed to enjoy a voyage through these lush, wildlife-rich wetlands. Optional transportation means you can visit without renting a car.

What to Expect

Depending on transport option selected, meet at the launch location or get picked up at a central New Orleans meeting point for the 45-minute drive outside the city. After a safety briefing and basic paddling instructions, climb aboard a tandem kayak and launch into the swamp with a guide and small group of no more than eight (single kayaks are available for odd-number groups).

Feel a world away from Bourbon Street as you paddle on the calm waters that wind through the moss-draped cypress forests of the Maurepas and Manchac swamps. During your approximately 2 hours on the water, learn about the wetland ecosystem and keep an eye out for native Louisiana wildlife including the famous American alligator.

Kayak Yes... Plantation No 🤔

⭐️⭐️⭐️ ½ I want to be clear that we enjoyed the Kayak trip and especially Nick. I wish him well in grad school! He was a great tour guide, but I cannot give this a 4-5 because of a few things. First of all, I...More

Highlight of girls' weekend

I can't say enough how much we enjoyed this! First-time kayakers; appreciated that the kayaks were two-person and "open." We weren't sure what to expect exactly; our group was small but there were a few (extremely knowledgable) guides that accompanied us. The scenery was unforgettable...More

Great swamp tour

Kerry was a great tour guide and very knowledgeable about the are and the things impacting it. We saw a few gators and had a couple of frogs try to catch a ride to the other side of the swamp.

Very informative and fun tour

This was a great chance to experience the outdoors and kayak along the swamp. Jeffrey, our tour guide, was SO knowledgeable! It was SUPER hot and sweaty - we didn't get fully wet, but you do get a bit dirty.

Not at all. I was worried about this myself but when we were there it felt very safe and the alligators are not aggressive at all. Most of them are also not very big and like to avoid human traffic. Gators are hunted over... More
