Your Big Island snorkeling cruise begins when you’re picked up from your Waikoloa area hotel, where you’ll drive to the port to board a catamaran for the comfortable cruise up the coast.
Depending upon conditions for the day, your professional captain will take you to some of the Big Island’s renowned snorkeling sites, whether it’s Puako, Turtle Bay, 6th Hole, Honoko’ope, Keawa’iki or Crystal Cove.
As you drink in the scenic coastal views, the crew discusses marine life and keep your eyes peeled for dolphins and whales that could splash in front of the bow. The crew will also explain how to use the snorkel gear and some tips for once you’re in the water, and get you fitted with a mask, snorkel, and fins and help you with any adjustments.
When the boat has moored at the snorkeling site, jump in the water to scour the reef for turtles and tropical reef fish, and, depending upon the site for the day, swim ashore to walk along a hidden black-sand beach.
Once safely back aboard the boat, enjoy a tasty deli-style lunch as well as an open bar. On the way back to port, the captain might even let you steer and experience driving the boat, or you can simply relax with a drink on the deck as the breeze blows through your hair.
