We booked a private tour for 5 adults and 3 kids (7, 8, and 13) and chose the Big Island in a Day Tour (called the Circle Tour on their website), so we could get a little taste of an assortment of things on the big island. Dreu was amazing! He was so funny and charismatic. His love of people and his love of Hawaii really just shines. It was a long day, but everyone enjoyed the sights and we all loved hearing Dreu's stories. The day went quickly and we learned a lot. The tour had a nice mix of sights of great natural beauty and a few little places to stop and shop. The provided meal was tasty and they easily accommodated the pescatarian in our group. I highly recommend doing the tour during the early part of your vacation. You don't get much time at any one spot, but it's a great overview and can help you plan how you want to spend the rest of your vacation. Do you want more lush tropical places? More lava? More history? More malasadas? At the end of our trip, when we were talking about what we liked best, the 8 year old said that Dreu was one of his favorite parts of the trip, because he was so funny! He kept everyone in our group from 7 - 70 years old entertained for 12 hours. It was impressive. I will absolutely sign up for another tour if/when I get back to the big island!

This tour was an amazing overview of the whole island. We only had a short time on the Big Island so we wanted to see as much as possible and this tour did just that. Our guide, Derek, was hands down our favorite guide we've had. He got everyone involved, told jokes, was extremely knowledgeable about the island and lore, and clearly has a passion for these experiences. The van was brand new and very comfortable even on the more bumpy roads and the lunch was surprisingly delicious. We would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone coming to the big island and our only regret was waiting until the last day of our trip to do it.

I'm upset that I couldn't give more than 5 stars!
I don't even know where to start, this tour delivered WAY MORE than I anticipated, and we ended the day feeling ultimately rewarded.
Derek was absolutely incredibly providing detailed information and history of the island while also including his own personal charm and experience. We visited SO many placed in the course of a day starting with the Kona Coffee Bay View Farmers, the Punalu'u Bake Shop, Punalu'u Black Sand Beach Park (turtle sightings included), Kilauea Iki Trail (complete with a trek through a lava tube), Rainbow Falls, 'Akaka Falls Lookout, Waipi'o Lookout, and ended the day with a bonus green flash!
This tour was an absolute DEAL and will truly stick with my family for years to come. I would recommend this tour to any one visiting the Big Island, you will NOT regret it!

We were so lucky that we had Mia as our guide on this full day tour of all the major Big Island attractions. She made it wonderful, sharing stories about the history and culture of the island.

The tour started early, at 6:45 AM and it about 12 hours long. It’s great if you want to be able to sample all the different things that the Big Island has to offer. While you will spend a lot of time on the road in the van, it’s a beautiful drive.

Highlights were:

1. Kona coffee plantation where we sampled excellent coffee and had their tasty apple-banana bread.

2. The volcano which had three different stops. One was the visitor’s center. The second is the crater observation point. And the third stop was a lava tube that you can hike through. Amazing!

3. Lunch at the black sand beach where we saw turtles and had a Asian bentos.

4. The water falls in Hilo were impressive and made for great photo ops.

The tour was well organized, informative, and we would recommend it for coupes or small groups that don’t want to drive themselves. Mia had tons of snacks, water, and was able to provide detailed rating for each bathroom on a five point scale which people on the tour appreciated very much.

The only improvement I would suggest is to provide a detailed itinerary in advance. It would be great to know all the stops with the approximate times spent at the stop.

We took the Big Island Full Day tour and Rob was one of THE.BEST things about the experience. He entertained and educated during the entire 12 hour tour and his energy and pleasant attitude never wavered even as we tourists became tired :-) I can’t recommend this enough, and try to go soon so you can get Rob, the best guide.

My family (5 adults) and I had an amazing time exploring the different parts of the island. Our tour guide Awana did a masterful job providing history, cultural background, locations to hidden gems and the occasional joke. We visited a coffee farm, saw green turtles at the black sand beach, explored the volcano park, walked through lava tubes, saw magnificent views at Waipi’o lookout, viewed numerous waterfalls and chased the sunset. He was very friendly and kept a positive attitude for 11+ hours. Moreover he balanced the different personalities and energy fluctuations during the day by knowing when to talk and engage, make jokes to bring the energy back up or play some calming Hawaiian music when he sensed people needed a quick nap or to relax between final stops. A very wonderful experience and tour guide that I would definitely recommend!

First let me say that this was a long day. We did have 2 small children on our tour, and they were very well behaved, but I would not recommend for smaller children. There are stops about every hour or so with restrooms. There was no eating allowed in the van, but you could have water. The first chance to eat something, was about an hour into the tour, where we stopped at a bakery and you could purchase items to eat. We had a provided lunch that we ate at Volcano National Park. It consists of white rice, flavored chicken breast, purple sweet potato slices, 2 small pieces of breaded fish and a drink. Our tour guide, Dave, was very knowledgeable and did a great job explaining everything. We did have light rain throughout the day, but that did not impact the trip. We brought raincoats, but they were also provided. The temperature did get cooler throughout the day, as we went higher up in altitude. We brought pants and changed into those at lunch. This is a great tour, for the first day of your trip, in case you wanted to revisit anywhere that you wanted more time. We found that the time we spent was enough for us, but did help us acclimate to the areas more.

So the tour itself is amazing. Our tour guide (Jacklyn) was very informative and filled with energy. She kept the entire day full of interesting stories and fun. I would highly recommend requesting Jacklyn as your tour guide.
Its a long day (about 10+ hours), but you really enjoy it. We started at about 7 AM from our hotel in a very comfortable Mercedes van. This turned out to be a very important factor as we do a lot of driving in 1 day. As the name suggests, this is the big island, so its about 300 miles around the outer rim. We were part of a small group of 11 people, all from our resort, so we got to the tour immediately.

We visited coffee plantations, lava fields, an active volcano, black sand beaches, multiple waterfalls (and more). A nice lunch is provide and they even catered to special requests (2 veg meals, requsted at the time of booking).
In the afternoon we were offered snacks at multiple times which was really nice. Water is offered throughout the day and they even have nice rain jackets since you pass through about 5 different climate zones in a day.

Overall, I highly recommend Wasabi tours amd if u can, request Jacklyn to show you around this beautiful island.

The tour I took with Wasabi International Tours was breathtaking and our guide was Jacklyn Ballard who educated us about the sites we visited. I really enjoyed the day and I would recommend this tour to anyone who has the time to go on this tour. The tour was about twelve hours but it was worth it. The tour provided us with lunch which was delicious. We were also given water, soda and snacks for the day. There’s not enough room in this review for me to go through everything but one thing I will say is the money I spent on buying this tour was worth every dollar. I enjoyed myself immensely. I was not paid to write this review and I am writing this review from my own experience. Some of the sites we visited were the coffee farm, National Park, volcano’s, black sand beach, rainforest, waterfalls, the famous donut store (don’t remember the name) in the lowest part of the south, and there may be other sites we visited that I am not remembering right now but we saw a lot in that day. I am going to do this tour again when I go back to Kona. I loved this tour.

A little background: I only wanted to do one tour while visiting a friend in Kona, and this was NOT my first choice. I was mainly interested in the volcanoes and had booked with a company specializing in geology who led small groups. I booked online but received a call the next morning that they made a mistake and had overbooked. Highly disappointed and now short on time, they said they would call around to other reputable tour operators to find availability. They recommended Wasabi and luckily there was one space left on the Big Island Circle tour. Although I’d hoped to focus on Volcanoes National Park, I’m now glad I was able to see so many other amazing sights on the Big Island. Brian was an incredible tour guide, providing commentary and personal accounts right until the last guest was dropped off. It was a long day and we’d seen a lot, yet I remembered many of the facts he’d told us and could recount them to my friend. As with any tour group, there were the annoying people who rudely chatted away while some of us in the back of the van strained to hear his commentary. As with any tour, there are places you wish you could linger longer and others you’d be happy to bypass. However, I felt this tour offered just the right mix and gave an excellent overview. Snacks and lunch were very good, bathroom breaks timed nicely. As a short person and one of the last to be picked up, my view from the back of the van wasn’t always the best. It wasn’t until after our last stop that people offered to switch seats. Overall, I was very glad I was able to get on this tour and would highly recommend it. (PS- the geology tour company was very apologetic about their error. They stayed in contact while searching for a substitute tour and refunded my money promptly).
