What to expect
This trip starts in our office in Seward Alaska at 8am, and often we have an afternoon trip that meets at 2pm. From there, we load up on our jet boat and start our 30-45 minute journey out to the glacier. Along the way, there's plenty of opportunities to see wildlife, and we'll keep our eyes open! Once we reach the entrance to Bear Glacier, our jetboat runs the river to our cache of kayaks, and then the adventure truly begins. This is a truly amazing opportunity. From the comfort of our kayaks, we'll explore the massive icebergs that are deposited by Bear Glacier, the Harding Icefield's largest glacier. You'll enjoy the stability of our boats in the glacier's calm lagoon while your group checks out the huge floating chunks of ice around you.

Glorious Magnificent Icebergs!!
Jul. 2021
It's been a dream of mine to kayak among icebergs and thanks to this tour I finally did it! There is nothing like kayaking next to these towering blocks of ice, hearing the thundering sound of them turn, and sometimes catching it happen too! The icebergs were beautiful and navigating among the smaller ones in a mixture of water and ice was lots of fun. The Bear Glacier is a sight to behold. We ate lunch gazing at it from a shoreline. On the way back we scooped up bits of ice to snack on - tasted so fresh and wonderful! We saw harbor seals pop their heads out at various times . Go later in the summer if you want to see more of them and hopefully catch them lounging on the icebergs! Much thanks to our guide, Molly, for keeping us safe, taking pictures of us in the most amazing scenery, and for all her information about the glacier. The speedboat driven by Brendan on the way there was a thrilling ride and also a great time. I accidentally booked the wrong tour (I found the website a bit confusing) and we ended up on the helicopter experience. This turned out to be a blessing since we got to kayak more in this amazing lagoon and although I am scared of helicopters, the ride back was incredible. Seeing the glaciers from the air took my breath away and our pilot was awesome. I would love to repeat this experience one day!

Definitely book Bear Glacier Kayaking with Liquid Adventures!
Jun. 2021
Alaska has been on my bucket-list of destinations, and my dream has been to see the glaciars, growlers and icebergs up close - not on a cruise ship. When I learned about the sea kayak trip in Bear Glacier I planned the trip around going to Seward.

It was worth it! Spectacular!

Our guide Molly was super knowledgable and fun - we had a small group of 4 and we were able to stay out for a long time. We saw a lot of activity and it was so beautiful.

We unfortunately did not get to take the jet boat - I was hoping we could also see whales from the boat. But less than 48 hours before arrival we were switch pitched to the helicopter due to lack of access. The helicopter pilot and the ride were fantastic - loved Mike the pilot, super safe but took us on an extended ride. Totally worth the extravagance.

My only issue was how they handled informing me of the need to take a helicopter versus the boat and the cost. Could have been managed better with more lead time that an issue could arise.

Overall, I would definitely say BOOK THIS. So worth it and a really amazing company of experts.

Bear Glacier with Helicopter
May 2021
We originally booked the Bear Glacier with Jetboat transport tour for late May. Unfortunately the area where the jetboat typically enters the area for kayaking had not melted enough and was therefore not accessible by boat. A few days before the trip date we were contacted by liquid adventures and asked if we wanted to switch to transport by helicopter to the glacier--which was discounted heavily due to the circumstances. The guide explained that it can be very difficult to predict when the snow melts enough the allow for boat passage as it can vary each year, so it was really nice for them to accommodate people who had already booked the tour. Once we arrived, Ryan and James were both great guides, pointing out interesting icebergs, teaching us about the glacier and taking lots of photos of us paddling. They even stopped us in the middle of the lagoon with lots of icebergs around us for a cookie and hot cocoa break. We paddled for more time than we had expected as well which was great since there was so much to explore. We did not arrive with adequate equipment and Ryan made sure we were well equipped for the trip and even gave us a pair of his own socks to wear. Overall, it was one of the coolest trips we had ever done and cannot thank them enough for all of the detail they put into this excursion. The helicopter was also pretty cool :)

This was a fantastic trip. Everybody from signup at office, shuttle driver, jetboat driver and our guide were terrific. I wish i could remember our guides name, she was a joy to go with. My only advice is to over dress. It can be very raw and chilly out there. My only complaint was another person didn't dress warm enough and we had to leave a little early because she was getting cold. So dress warm and enjoy the icebergs.

WOW!
Sep. 2020
My wife and I took this tour. Neither of us is an experienced kayaker. However, this was one of the highlights of our trip to Alaska. The jet boat ride to the kayaking area was fun, and when we got to the area and got into the kayaks, it was simply amazing. The beauty and grandeur of the glacier defy words. This is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen, and I wouldn't trade the experience for anything!

An amazing kayak experience
Aug. 2020
This is an absolute must do activity for anyone able to do some moderate physical activity. Paddling through the field of icebergs was a highlight of our trip to Alaska. Our 11 year old was with us and had a great time as well. It was rainy and cold the day of our trip, but the dry suits Liquid provided kept us dry and comfortable (make sure you bring your own non-cotton layers for under the dry suit). None of us are regular kayakers and we had no problem keeping up with the relaxing pace set by our guide.

This trip was during COVID and they had all of the systems and practices in place you would expect. Questionnaires, masks, sanitizer, distancing, etc.

What an amazing trip!!
Aug. 2020
We did the half day Bear Glacier kayaking trip via the boat with Braden. It was us and another group of 4, which I think is the max they will take (so a nice small group). This was one of my highlights of our 18 day trip! It was amazingly beautiful! Braden was a great guide and took us on a little hike to see the lagoon and then took us all over the lagoon via kayak. The weather was great, we even saw several rainbows! Towards the end of our trip there were some curious seals, and Braden was very good about making sure we didn’t frighten them and give them proper distance. The boat ride was nice too, you are going pretty fast but the captain will stop for animals (we saw a big group of sea otters!). Highly recommended!

Trip is a must do if you are in Seward!!
We booked a Bear Glacier Kayak trip with Holly. Believe me, you will not be disappointed if you are looking for glaciers! My 2 daughters and her boyfriend decided we would try this even with the COVID-19 going on. The staff was all very cautious with keeping distance / masks on during our dry gear suit up and checking in. Everyone was professional and this kayak trip was worth every penny. We saw wildlife on the way to the glaciers and Holly our guide was funny and knowledgeable. But once we got to the glaciers...words can’t say enough!! Pictures can’t come close to what you see..This trip and this company is one of the few that head to Bear Glacier.. Must do!!

Spectacular views, relaxing paddle, worth every penny
Aug. 2020
Booked this as a last minute trip and feel so fortunate that we were able to get it. The guides and staff were wonderful, the process was easy, and the boat ride out and back was fine. We were out in the glacier bay for about 2 1/2 hours and it felt like 45 minutes. The views are spectacular. The bay is calming an yet there were a couple of minutes when paddling through some congested areas that felt a little challenging. We saw seals, eagles, and puffins. Was a memory that will last a lifetime.
They are the only company that does this tour. I highly recommend it.
