About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- D8158MZdaniel0 contributionsMusher's CampWe had a great time with Jena as our guide. She was very knowledgeable and fun. The sled dogs were more than happy to accommodate all of us. A great experience to be pulled by professional racing dogs.Written September 27, 2024
- DavidB907440 contributionsMush Fun!Today's Alaskan cruise adventure took us to the dogs. We enjoyed an informative, fascinating day learning about dog sledding and its vital part of Alaskan life and history. Linda was our jovial and friendly guide for our AlaskaX dog sledding experience. Her guided tour provided us with lots of interesting and colorful tales of Skagway’s early frontier days. At the Musher Camp, our dog handler gave us lots of great information on how the dogs are trained, fed and groomed for the Iditarod in March. The dog sledding ride was thrilling to watch these incredible perform what they live and love to do best. Getting to meet these beautiful, svelte dogs up close was a thrill. Petting them, you can feel all muscle. These incredible, athletic animals are superstars of the vast Alaskan wilderness. And then it was puppy time! Oh gosh - week old puppies and a chance to hold, cuddle and snuggle them. We learned it’s important to begin socializing them ASAP. Definitely a highlight. The ride up/down the steep mountain road was an adventure in itself in a rugged “unimog” vehicle. All-in-all, a wonderful, fun experience.Written September 19, 2024
- minniemel89070 contributionsException from start to finishFar beyond expectations! This tour was unbelievable. The dogs were amazing to see in action and I cannot say enough good things about every single person that we interacted with on the tour. Our bus driver/guide Rose gave us all the best pointers in town and now only did she drive us to the dog camp but she gave us a thorough history of Skagway on the way. A pirate story, the beauty of the land and everything. She was the best guide we had on any excursion on our vacation.Written September 17, 2024
- georwell0 contributionsGreat dog musher team visitPickup was well-organized and on time. Dylan was friendly and very knowledgable of the local area and pointed out various Juneau landmarks and history along the route. At the facility, Robert and Bone likewise were welcoming and eager to share their passion for the dogs and mushing with us. Their presentations on sledding and Iditarod history were informative and well done. Each member of the team fielded questions and shared his own stories and insights. The sled run was an absolute blast, and meeting/petting the adult dogs and holding/petting the puppies was an added highlight. Easy 5 stars from our group of 5.Written September 9, 2024
- Angela K0 contributionsGreat Sled Dog AdventureThis experience was exactly what I expected. It was at a dog camp in the middle of a beautiful forest. All of the staff were kind and informative. The dogs were all very friendly and sweet puppies, too! The only negative was that we were told to be at the meeting point 15 minutes early and they were a few minutes late because the driver said there was a mix up on where to pick us up (we went to the place we were directed to in our confirmation). Other than that, it was a great day!Written September 8, 2024
- Mossienator0 contributionsFun and up personal with the Alaskan HuskiesWe had a fabulous time, from the minute we were picked up to being dropped back at the cruise ship. Our driver Rose was informative and funny. She had a wicked sense of humour. The dogs were wonderful, hard-working and lovable. Our sled driver Sarah handled them well and gave us a personal introduction to them at the end of the 6 person cart ride. Seeing the 2 week old puppies and getting to hold one touched the heart. Also the store was a husky lovers dream, at a reasonable price. Thank you Rose, Sarah and Alaska X for the experience.Written September 6, 2024
- GeorgiaMary0 contributionsThis exceeded my expectations! This tour is very well run, it never felt crowded even though they were very busy. The staff were very professional and knowledgeable. It was very interesting to learn the history of sled dogs and their role with humans. Riding behind the dogs on a "sled" was amazing to see how the dogs interacted with other dogs and their trainer. Of course, petting puppies is always great, but the rest of the tour was equally excellent.Written September 3, 2024

- ralphsM1031SQ0 contributionsPuppies galoreWhat a time! The trip in with Tim was one of a kind. Ask him questions, and he'll tell you so much about Juneau's history as he winds through the mountain trails. We then had Tyler, an up and coming musher, as our host, who was amazing. So enthusiastic and informative. The Mountain valley location is worth the price of admission. We've done this adventure twice, and would go again.Written August 27, 2024
- O7863FXkeithg0 contributionsAwesome fun!Great time zip lining! Parker, Lee and Isabelle took great care of us. Very exciting and we all felt very safe, even hanging upside down (optional of course)!Written August 25, 2024
- RByers180 contributionsAdventure in the woodsWhat a blast! We weren't expected the unimog drive but it was an adventure unto itself, and of course everyone loved riding with the sled dogs. We had three generations in our group, and my grandmother with walker needed assistance to/from the unimog and the team did a great job grabbing a 4x4 cart to take her up to the camp. Getting up into the Unimog was doable for her but was a bit slick in the rain. The team did such a great job introducing the dogs to us and answering all our questions about mushing. Grandma turned to me and said "This was the most fun excursion I've had on this whole trip!" Beaming ear to ear after riding with the dogs. It was a bit of a drive from the cruise ship terminals but the views were still nice and it was actually a relief to get out of town and away from all the other cruise tourists for a bit.Written August 19, 2024
- fionabR6115GS0 contributionsLoved itThis was my daughter’s favorite part of the whole trip. We had a great time, and loved getting to pet the dogs afterwards.Written August 11, 2024
- KimN6830 contributionsGreat experience to participate in a Musher's Camp!We enjoyed a wonderful day at the Musher's Camp in Skagway. The views to/from the camp were amazing and meeting and riding with these musher dogs was such a fun experience. The experience was very informative with learning the background of racing and how these beautiful dogs get to do their favorite activity...run! Max was a great guide and shared many interesting facts along our trip.Written August 8, 2024
- AdagioTravel0 contributionsFun break from cruise life in the Alaska autback.Pros first: motivated young guides conducting a tour through true wilderness at the foot of Davidson Glacier. These guides live here with no running water or electricity for the 5 months of the year that they are leading tours … so this IS in fact wilderness. Guides was very funny and upbeat, and also well-informed. Comfortable boat ride to/from the cruise ship, with naturalist who pointed out wildlife along the way. We enjoyed putting on the rubber boots and life vests and the “soft hike” through the woods. Shout out to guide Lydia - she’s awesome! Now cons: the lunch was mediocre; the ride to/from the tour site is over an hour each way ... but that’s what we expected because a cruise ship by definition stops pretty far from the “wilderness”. We would have preferred the chance to actually use our oars on the canoes, rather than have them be powered by motors. We agree with the comment that the rocks at the base of the glacier were rather ordinary.Written August 8, 2024

This was an awesome excursion. From the bus driver to zip lining guides they were all excellent. Leery our bus driver as she drove us to the site she was telling us about the town history and kept us all entertained with her jokes. Our zip lining guides Kyle and Clara were awesome they made zip lining so much fun. Who knew that they would be able to make it more fun than what it already is. They had us playing games and gave us challenges as we zipped lined through the tree tops. The sites were beautiful and the weather was perfect sunny and cool. I would definitely recommend this not only for a couples but for families as well

We booked the trip directly as it was significantly less expensive that a similar one sold by the cruise we were on (it turned out that the cruise cancelled the excursion since they did not have enough takers so we were inspired to book ourselves).
We were picked up near the cruise. We were a rather small group (8 in total). This made the experience enjoyable as we never had to wait a very long time for any of lines. We had two guides, one at the front and one at the end (they switched half way through). I thought the advertising noted 11 zip lines and three bridges. It ended up being 10 zip lines (of which two were described as training ones) and the last two bridges were quite underwhelming and connected to each other. Nevertheless, a good experience, felt very safe (for a first time zipliner). It was amazing to realize that you were standing at times tens of feet up in a tree on a platform. It was amazing to feel the tree slightly swaying in the wind!
The drive to and from is also nice and the driver is providing a nice narration.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this review! We are great to hear that you enjoyed the zipline tour overall. We used to have 11 lines, but last year had to modify the course slightly which required us to remove one zipline. We apologize that the description you read was not updated to reflect the current experience (10 total lines and 4 bridges). However, we appreciate you making us part of your Alaska vacation!

Pickup and 30 minute bus ride to base camp, then you load into a unimog to take a 10 minute drive, up the hill. There are 8 zip lines of differing length, the guides Shane and Linnea were great, and made each zipline a little different with stories and tricks to try. They do all the hookups, and the braking for you. It is good for everyone, but not extreme of that is what you are looking for. I had a lot of fun. The guides did a great job keeping everyone safe at all times, with hooking you into safety lines while waiting. The views are great.

Highly recommend! From Max (our driver/tour guide), to the Unimog ride up to the zip lines, to Parker and Brittany (our zip line guides), the entire experience was wonderful. My daughter and I highly enjoyed Parker and Brittany’s energy and antics at each zip line, really engaging with our group of 4 and making each zip line unique. If you are looking for something fun to do in Skagway and hanging with people who truly care about the guest experience, this is the tour for you!

Tessa and Kyle made sure our little group was safe, having fun and engaged all the way through our zipline adventure. It is clear that all the guides love their job, and everything from the bus pickup to the ride up the mountain was done with professionalism and fun. Would definitely do this again and would try and talk my reluctant family into joining me next time.

My wife and I went ziplining here on a cruise excursion, and we had an amazing time! The zipline course and the surrounding area is encompassed by nature: waterfalls, rivers, mountains, trees, and the wonder of the temperate rain forest. To get to the ziplines, you drive up a steep hill in a Unimog. The ride to the ziplines is another opportunity to take in the scenery. Getting to the course was a precursor to all the nature you would be exposed to on the ziplines. The zipline course gives a much more up-close-and-personal view of the best parts of nature. Additionally, our zipline instructors, Shane and Yeti were super helpful, humorous, genuine, and interactive. They showed us how to zipline upside down, and how to spin in circles on the ziplines to get a better view of the surrounding area. Their instructions and demonstrartions made the excursion even more enjoyable. The entire experience was enhanced by their enthusiasm and involvement with the participants. I would definitely recommend ziplining here to anyone, who is looking for the best way to see the natural landscapes of Skagway and Dyea. (The weather was exceptional as well)

We had a really nice time ziplining with Alaska Excursions. We’ve done a few zip lines in vacations and hire enjoyed this one. Bus ride out to the mountain was good and informative (Shawn was our driver). The truck up the hill was a unique way to get up. And the guides for the several lines back down were very fun and personable (Tyler and Zack). The runs weren’t long but there were plenty and the guides taught us how to spin and go upside down and dance while zipping. And the scenery was lovely. Had a great time and would highly recommend.

My family and I went ziplining here on a cruise excursion, and we had an amazing time! The zipline course and the surrounding area is encompassed by nature: waterfalls, rivers, mountains, trees… our tour group even saw a fox on the bus ride leaving the course. This excursion is a great way to escape reality for an hour or two. To get to the ziplines, you drive up a steep hill in a Unimog. I had never heard of or seen a car like this before the excursion! The ride to the ziplines is another opportunity to take in the scenery, and it gives you great views of wildlife and vegetation. Getting to the course was a precursor to all the nature you would be exposed to on the ziplines. The zipline course gives a much more up-close-and-personal view of the best parts of nature. Additionally, our zipline instructors, Cassidy and Kassidi (or Cassidy squared) were super helpful, sweet, genuine, and interactive. They showed us how to zipline upside down, and how to spin in circles on the ziplines to get a better view of the surrounding area. As someone who loves a good adrenaline rush, this made the excursion even more enjoyable. I also liked how Cassidy and Kassidi braked for you, so I could just enjoy being upside down–or take in the views–without worrying about when I needed to stop. I would definitely recommend ziplining here to everyone, regardless if you’re an adrenaline junkie, are looking for the best way to see the natural landscapes of Alaska, or both.

I had a fantastic time ziplining in Skagway, AK! The views were stunning, and the course was a perfect mix of thrilling and scenic.
Our guides, Parker and Linnea, were outstanding—they made the adventure safe, fun, and unforgettable. Parker’s energy and Linnea’s calm confidence were the perfect combination.
Highly recommend this excursion if you're in Skagway, especially with Parker and Linnea leading the way!

Fantastic, it was the best of 4 excursions we went on, by far, in Alaska. Gabe and Parker were our guides. Both were fun. Parker has a great sense of humor and made the adventure even better. There were 6 people in our group, with youngest being 15 and the oldest 70. The majority of the group had experience in ziplining. My husband and I have never tried it before. They kept us smiling and laughing the whole time Gabe and Parker made all of us feel welcome and special, no matter the experience. The scenery was spectacular, with the river, trees and waterfalls. We all had a blast!

Right at weight limit for ziplining. Concern that after a couple days cruising, I will be over limit. Are you required to step on a scale or is it something that the employees will use their best judgment on who should and shouldn't step on. I have zip lined multiple times and never required to weigh in. Most concern is speed coming in hot which has never been an issue even when I was heavier at 275.
Written July 4, 2023
We did not have to weigh in either. Assume they use their best judgment. Also, this particular zipline stops you on their own so you do not have to worry about coming in hot. I really loved that aspect of this experience!

Hi, We (my husband and me) will be travelling with my parents and 3 year old. they will not be able to take part in this ziplining. Is it possible for them to come with us to the place where the ziplining starts and then come back to the cruise with us? if yes, what will be the charges for them just to accompany us?
Written July 24, 2019
It could be possible. It is quite a drive to the place. I think about 40 minutes. There is a small retail area prior to getting on the next level of transportation to zip lining. So they would have a comfortable place to stay. You would have to contact the company for the cost for that portion.
Written July 25, 2019
If we wear a small backpack is there somewhere to lock it up before the zip lining?
Written June 29, 2019
Yes, they have tubs you can place your articles in.
Written June 30, 2019
Is transportation to and from the port included in the trip?
Written June 16, 2019
We will be there on June 17th and wanted to do this. For some reason I can’t choose the 17th. Please advise of what to do
Written June 9, 2019
I have ziplined multiple times and absolutely love that, but am a little concerned about the suspension bridges? I have had some inner ear issues and now have a bit of an issue with heights. I really want to do the zipline, how daunting are the suspension bridges?
