A Refreshing Escape with a Splash of Concern
The South Sea Island Half Day Cruise offers a solid 4/5 star experience, boasting unlimited food and drinks amidst breathtaking views of pristine waters and vibrant marine life. However, a notable drawback was the snorkelling equipment hygiene, as it was only washed in what seemed to be a bucket of water between users... Despite this minor concern, the overall adventure was thrilling, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a memorable island getaway with ample refreshments and stunning scenery.

        Captains Lounge all the way
Our travel agent had booked The Captains Lounge for us. I liked it as I get seasick & was concerned how I’d go on the big boat. The beauty is you can eat - chips/pastries & drink the whole trip - soft drinks/water/coffee & tea/beer/wind for free (we’ll you’ve paid for it in your ticket of course!) On the way out to the islands our boat was great - maybe because we got on first at the Marina. It was cool & comfortable with clear views out the windows. The boat coming back was older with cooling that worked but wasn’t cold, the windows needed a good clean & because our stop was one of the last, people were sprawled everywhere (obviously seasick) so we were jammed into a tight corner with not much air. Getting on the boat in the middle of the ocean was interesting!

Good day trip, needs some upgrading
Island is looking a wee bit tired and could do with some upgrades to the facilities such as the loungers and hammocks. Maybe oversold our trip too as a lot of people in a small island with not enough seating places for everyone. The positives, staff were great, the submerged boat is awesome, master 4 loved it. The beach area is lovely and water is crystal clear, lots to see when snorkeling.

        South Seas Cruises resort transfer
Our South Seas Cruises resort transfer to/from Port Denarau to Likuliku Lagoon Resort was horrible!!! Their website says “Our fleet of modern catamarans has air-conditioned lounges, outdoor viewing decks, and licensed bars meaning you’ll feel on holiday as soon as you step on board” which is TOTALLY misleading. There was no air-conditioning (if there was, it was either not working or they did not have it turned up high enough) making the indoor area (which is far from a “lounge”) almost unbearable: we honestly thought a few of the kids on the ferry were going to pass out from heatstroke as they were so red in the face and sweating profusely (their parents kept feeding them salty snacks and making them drink water as they mopped the sweat from their heads). The “licensed bar” is basically a very small concession stand with extremely limited choices. We dreaded the transfer back from Likuliku the whole time we were at the resort. On the way back we were able to get seating upstairs outside, but in front under cover there was no air flow and not under cover we were in the blaring sun – but with the breeze we chose that over the sweatbox “lounge”. Seriously, if you can afford a different way to get to/from the resorts, do it! The next time we go to Fiji there is NO way we are ever getting back on the “floating vehicle of despair” (my husband’s nickname for this ferry).

        Slice of Heaven
We loved the spontaneous and unrestrictive feel of the island. The staff were super friendly. SSI Manager Mr. Harry Hatch and the team, kudos to an experience that we all look forward to coming back to soon. Sota Tale

Very poorly organised. Really hard for new visitors as there is no guide with activities and drop off/pick up locations or timetables. Also found the staffs are resist, if you are indian looking.

Absolutely amazing day. The coral, fish and other sea creatures like Turtles and Stingrays were so great to see. The lunch and drinks were all included. Highlight recommended.

A must-do when in Nadi or if visiting Fiji!
A friend and I went on the full day trip last Saturday, the boat departed Port Denarau at 10am. The cruise in itself, was an amazing experience with perfect sunshine and weather, somehow calming to see the breathtaking turquoise sea swirling around this island paradise with white sandy beaches and swaying palm trees. Greeted by the SS Is staff on the beachfront with a lively arrival experience. Good food spread, plentiful cold drinks to cool down the blazing sunshine. Awesome and attentive water sports staff, thank you for keeping us entertained with your calm & easy-to-follow guidance for snorkeling. I would recommend their water sports team anytime! Went on the submarine tour and it's a must-see for families. Feedback- pls check on the AC unit inside the sub- chamber, wasn't really cooling and a bit warm for the 20pp per viewing. Overall, such a beautiful island paradise worth taking time out to just go and enjoy and rejuvenate. Will definitely visit again! Thank you, Team South Seas Island!

        Wonderful intro to Fiji
Perfect first cruise! We went again on this ferry and all the crew recognised us and made us feel so welcome! The ferry cruise was beautiful. Getting the little boat from the ferry to the island was so much fun! The island was tiny and adorable. The glass bottom boat was an amazing experience - we saw so much. The food was lovely. With the half day we didn’t get to snorkel but we didn’t mind as it was just such a wonderful introduction to Fiji. Everyone on the island were amazing and exceedingly welcoming and as we were the first ready to head back to the ferry we had a lovely chat with the skipper. Then on the way home we saw all the Mamanuca Islands and the locals as well as the crew pointed out the important islands and facts such as Mana where Castaway was filmed and the beach where survivor is filmed. Great as we got to see different resorts and plan the next trip. It was such a joy. The ferry is very comfortable and plenty of drinks and coffee available to purchase. We sat both outside and in the air conditioning and both were lovely experiences.

Awesome tour, beautiful island, and great lunch.
15 of us went to Fiji and we took a lot of different tours over 7 days we were there. Snorkeling with the sharks was the best tour for sure. Matter of fact I did it on Thursday and again on Saturday. I liked it that much. It rained on Saturday, but the water was still great. Just the ocean was a bit ruff on the small boat to the location where the sharks were at. The photo I added, is my photo I took. Get a good underwater case for your smart phone or a GoPro.

        Great experience for young families
Great service from the operator, very friendly staff. Great experience if you have young kids who get bored quickly. We didn't have time to drink while at the island as we were busy snorkeling, you only get 1.5 hrs at the island which goes super fast Amazing sea floor! And Fish Feeding experience was excellent too. We found lots of Doris and friends... and found a blue starfish doing snorkeling, so just keep swimming!

Great Transport to the Islands 🏝
Lovley large comfortable vessel with excellent staff. Best way to get to the outer islands. They offer hot and cold drinks and snacks but no WiFi. Has indoor and outdoor seating. Indoor fully air-conditioned, tho a bit too cold 🥶 so take a jacket, but nice if it's super hot outside. Clean toilets.

The BEST and big THANK YOU to Eddie!
We’ve been several islands and this one is absolutely the BEST so far, great service and well orgnised acitivities, no rush but enjoyed a lot (they arranged 5 times’ snorkling, 4 times fish feeding, scuba coaching, Fiji cultural performance as well as lunch buffet. And We still had about 2 hours’s free time after all of this!). There are lots of benches and other facilites for use, pretty convenence. Besides, the South Sea crew couch and look after the vistors better (than the other islands we explored so far). A big sepcial THANK YOU to Eddie, who not only coached me and my mum with patience during the snorkling, but also teached me how to swim afterwards, he made our day there. Aslo wanna say THANK YOU to the captain who helped us catch the ship when we almost missed it. In overall, this is the best experience we had in Fiji, highly recommend!

        Delightful in liquid sunshine but….
Well organized from hotel pick up to island Lots of activities however felt staff were not prepared for the rain and should be since it is the rainy season. Staff were drilling holes into tables to insert umbrellas while we were there!! Strangely just not equipped to handle the rain. And the food was just Ok. Noted that some in our family did the later buffet and it was leftover from earlier sitting and our vegetarian was left with wilted coleslaw n leftover cold noodles Kudos though for management for having a water filtration system on the island. Saving a lot of plastics from the ocean

        Avoid South Sea Island Cruises.
Heartless company. My daughter booked at 7am for my wife to go on the half day cruise. Unbeknown to her my wife is very sick.. At 9am we tried to cancel my wife's booking. They refused. Greedy animals. $409 down the drain. Avoid South Sea Island Cruises.

Our second day in Fiji and we took a 2 hour boat ride to Kuata island with stop off at various Island resorts for passenger transfers. We arrived at Batefoot Kuata where no shoes or footwear are worn. Lovely secluded spot with 3 small swimming, toilets and change room There are bungalows for overnight stay. The lunch was excellent, and water was crystal clear and 31oC absolutely beautiful

Visiting one of the islands in Fiji is expensive. As we base ourselves in Nadi, we book some day trips to the island.

The trip is arranged through our resort hotel in Nadi. The cost price for one day cruise to Barefoot Kuata is 335 FJD, about 139 Euro per person, and certainly worth it.

What's included in the price: the ferry ticket, lunch, snorkeling with sharks, and use of the resort facilities.

For one-day snorkeling, were allocated to seat in the captain lounge. So, it's pretty good organized.

The journey to Barefoot Kuata takes two hours. Bare in mind: on the last part of the boat ride can be very rough because of the sea current. Many of the boat passengers get seasick. But the crew of South Sea was very attentive and helping everyone onboard.

We were drop off in the sea and transferred in a small boat. It such a terrible weather during our trip, despite everything, we have a good welcome in the resort.

We got the explanation of what's in the planning. Afterward, we were guided to the dive center where we prepared stuff for the snorkeling activity.

A small boat took us on a spot where we snorkel. It takes 20 minutes normally, but because of the bad weather it took us 40 minutes and it was a horrible trip, I didn't want to think about that.

My most unusual experience that day, that we're able to snorkeling where the sharks around. We have 45 minutes underwater which was so amazing, the encounter with the sharks.

And then we return to the resort, and when we arrived the lunch buffet was served. The remaining hours were free. There is a swimming pool or snorkeling at the beach, but the sea current is no good, we just chill out

South Sea Cruises don't do anything except provide a ferry to Barefoot Kuata. The whole experience is provided by the staff of Barefoot Kuata and they are fabulous.

The staff were average at best. The person on the counter couldn't understand that I cancelled my booking with Viator and booked through Expedia even though I gave him my Expedia details and never paid anything through Viator and it showed up as cancelled.

We wanted to upgrade to the Capitans Lounge but were told at the counter to ask when boarding. When we asked we were sent down stairs to the booking lady who told us to go back up stairs to the boarding lady. In the end we didn't get anyone to help us and honestly the Capitans lounge isn't that different to downstairs and not worth the upgrade.

The transfer is comfortable but nothing special.

Wonderful experience both on board the transfer boat and at island. The island is beautiful and the people kind! We arrived and were greeted warmly and explained what was on offer for our day trip. We did not opt to do the shark snorkeling but instead walked along the beautiful beach and did our own snorkeling. The views and water was unparalleled to anything we had ever seen. Stunning! The facilities are limited and the pools tiny, but the lunch was delicious and staff friendly. A beautiful place to relax and enjoy the beach!
