Big Creek NWA is located on the north shore of Lake Erie, 3 kilometers (km) southwest of Port Rowan, Ontario. It is home to a wealth of wildlife, including birds, frogs, turtles, amphibians, insects and many other species, all of which rely on wetland habitats. The extensive marshes at the mouth of Big Creek are remarkably undisturbed compared to other Great Lakes coastal wetlands. Located at the base of the Long Point peninsula, the Big Creek NWA marshes are a major staging area for waterfowl and more than 200 bird species use the area during their spring and fall migrations.

      Zip lining
My boyfriend and I did the zip lining tour with Steven and Allison. We had such a great time and we’re lucky enough to be the only ones in the group. Steven and Allison were fun, professional and very knowledgeable about local history. We felt both safe and secure and had the best time! Thanks for making our day awesome!

      The best day ziplining!!
I booked my grandchildren ages 13 and 14 in for a Zipline tour and the absolutely loved every second. When they were finished the tour we had lunch on the Marshview patio. They were so excited to share about their tour which was full of funny stories about the the tour guides and about everything they learned as this was their very first time on a zipline. The resteraunt was absolutely delicious as my grandson said ...it's the best burger I've ever had in my life!! What a great day! I have some accessibility issues so ziplining is out for me but I felt so good about providing them the opportunity. We will definitely be back. My only constructive advice would be to have some accessible parking available by your ramp. I lucked out and was able to get parking there but if there hadn't been I probably would not have been able to enjoy lunch with them. Otherwise everything was stupendous!!! Love Abby our server she was so kind and fun!!

      Glamping
Glamping experience only. They spread themselves thin. Too many things to focus on with the Reno’s and activities. Unfortunately there was mold in the tent. Way too expensive for what you get. The beds were excellent and heated, I’ll give them that.

      Zipline Is A Must!
My lovely lady took me for a wild Ziplining adventure through the gorgeous Fall colours. Zach and Will were excellent guides with tons of knowledge of the area and made us all feel completely safe during our Zipline tour. With their unique personalities, we had the time of our lives Zipping along all the do da day!! We stayed overnight in one of the Wilderness Suites and it was super clean and fun. I highly recommend visiting Long Point Eco-Adventures for a unique and thrilling experience. Great for families and kids of all ages. This 52-year-old Kid sure had a blast! The couch at home will be there when you get back, for now leave it alone and go make some special memories. Chris C

We did the Observatory Dome Tour as past of a group of 8 people in total. The tour was hosted by a very pleasant and knowledgeable guide who took us up to the Dome platform where she pointed out and explained constellations and their Greek mythology history. Then we went into the Dome and observe the night sky through a powerful Richley Creighton telescope with 16 inch aperture. It produced great views! We saw the Great Globular Cluster, the Ring nebula, a few stars, and the Moon. The planets were below the horizon and not visible that night. The tour was worth going on but there coneed to be some improvements. The guide was very passionate about explaining Greek mythology but she spent too much time doing so which meant we had less time to view the night sky on the telescope. Also they had just completed some changes to the pier that the telescope sat on and shortened it so much that you had to sit or kneel on the floor to be able to see through the eyepiece which was quite awkward and uncomfortable. That needs to be changed.

      zip lining surpreme
I brought my granddaughter as a surprise to go zip lining. Our attendants were Zac and Mikell and they were over the top with help, and safety, making us feel at ease and their general knowledge and stories that were shared were fabulous. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this team and when I return, I will definitely be asking for their team again! It was an absolute blast and I have already recommended this to many friends. It was a memory that will last a lifetime for me and my granddaughter, thank you so much for an outstanding day! M

      Overall great glamping experience
We stayed at Long Point Eco adventures for 3 days and 2 nights with 6 active teenagers. We booked the Pottahawk PODS. We loved the outdoor shower and the towels, bedding. shampoo etc. supplied were of good quality. We also appreciated the "living room" POD where we played board games at night and stored food / supplies. Activities included axe throwing, hiking, stargazing, evening campfires, visits to Turkey Point beach and Port Dover (beach and shopping). The staff at the pre-booked activities were enthusiastic and at the axe throwing they covered the safety aspects very well. The Marshview Patio food was excellent (breakfast and lunch). Bring some towels from home if going to the beach. Overall there was lots to do both at LPEA and in the Lake Erie area. It was a great break from the city.

Don’t waste your hard earned money
This place is an overpriced campsite. Do not be fooled by the pictures, the wilderness suites smell horrendous, the shower floor is covered with moss which makes the shower slippery. There was no food available although it is supposed to be free with Wilderness Suite bookings. The grounds look like a construction site, it is over priced and not worth it!!

      Overnight stay
Don’t stay in November it is too cold, there is a space heater but it doesn’t heat up the room well and not the bathroom area at all. The room is much smaller then it shows on the site. The restaurant on site was good and the views were nice. Stayed in the wilderness suite they all seem run down and the shower area especially!!

      Not impressed
We booked through Expedia, first mistake. They sold me dates and Wilderness POD that wasn't available. We found out a few days before. Contact ECO, Chloe was awesome to speak with to get a resolution. She offered us a Deluxe POD. We had originally paid for 3 nights. This was reversed and upon arrival we cancelled our last night not getting a very good feeling from the minute we walked in. Paid for 2 nights and a cancel fee in a cheaper POD. We arrived early on the Saturday, which was ECO's opening day due to covid. I felt like it was not ready for opening, rooms weren't ready even though it is the first day, it seems to me they had extended time to prepare for such a late opening. We later learned the covid infected people were being housed in the PODS. And there still was a bunch of garbage left in the PODS beside us. Everything was cancelled and we couldn't really do anything. There was no social room other than the restaurant area. We asked for a fire pit to make a fire and try to make the best of it. They brought the pit and a bunch of chairs. Jean the wood delivery lady was the only person that actually made us feel comfortable. Later we were going to go for a walk and checked that our key didn't even work. So we walked over to the restaurant where someone brought us the correct key to the room. The POD was nice, new and clean, the bed was clean and comfy but felt tight. We felt closed in. We left the windows open at night with the fan on. In the morning we tried the breakfast which was such a joke. They gave my bf coffee grounds, sugar and cream and 2 muffins. And said we had to brew our own coffee. In the POD the coffee maker had no instructions and they had no cups and enough water for only half a pot. Trying to get ready was horrible. You have to shower outside. I thought it'd be a shower room like in most normal camp grounds. You can't use the water for drinking or teeth brushing. For the $275 we were charged for 18 hours of this was not what we were expecting. It was a bigger rip off then Wonderland!! I would never recommend anyone come here other than a day trip for a picnic.

If you’re looking to have an amazing time and learn more than you could ever expect about the local biosphere, you have to join the Big Creek River Kayak tour with Leanne Lemaich.

This tour has everything you could ask for: amazing kayaking experience, gorgeous surroundings, and a guide who is perfect for the job (among other conservation efforts, Leanne also raises cecropia/giant silk moths to help keep the biosphere healthy)! Leanne’s enthusiasm, experience, and dedication to conservation efforts is contagious. You’ll leave the tour feeling refreshed and appreciative of what nature gives us.

Along with her assistant Ashley, Leanne and her team provide an amazing, unforgettable experience!!

My husband and I recently had the amazing experience of taking this 4-hr guided kayak trip down (what is the Ontario equivalent of the Amazon river) Big Creek with guides, Leanne and Darren. We received excellent instructions prior to the trip and when we arrived the kayaks and lifejackets were waiting for us with our hosts, providing a dry-land review of safety procedures while following all the necessary safety protocols for social distancing! Within 10 minutes of paddling on the creek, it was easy to forget you were in Ontario! This river provided fantastic twists, turns, canopy, wildlife (we saw a hug turkey vulture up close!) and historical perspectives. The journey was enhanced by the very knowledgeable Leanne & Darren who have such a rich history of the area and the special environment that makes up this unique area surrounding it! Notably, the streamlined kayaks that this tour provides are far superior to some of the 'competing' companies that are providing a (hard to navigate) inflatable raft with a paddle. I definitely recommend this tour for it's watercraft, rich knowledge and expertise of it's guides and a perfect distance / route chosen. We can't wait to return! Thanks Leanne & Darren!

We did this tour twice in quick succession in summer 2021. The tour was great - really beautiful setting and our tour guide (Leanne) was very knowledgeable about the birds and other creatures living along the creek. As new kayakers, we also felt very safe and were coached through some of the trickier parts of the rivers (including fallen tree branches).

It lasts about 4 hours but goes by very quickly. And we were definitely sore afterwards so it was a bit of work.

Brian and Leanne were amazing guides who made the kayaking experience wonderful for our party of 10. They were very knowledge about the environment and provided great commentary throughout the 4 hour tour. They were also very helpful when one of the people in our group flipped his kayak. Highly recommend this activity to those who enjoy kayaking and who want to experience the Canadian ‘Amazon Rainforest’.

Our family (with two teen boys) did this kayak as part of a package with Long Point Eco-Adventures where we were glamping. It was lovely day of gentle paddling down Big Creek. There are a few tricky maneuvers, but overall a beginner paddler could take it on. Our guides Josh and Karl were great. They were patient, friendly and encouraging. Josh was very knowledgeable about the area, the plants and wildlife we saw along the way and was eager to share. We give it four thumbs up!

Highlight of the summer! Went with a group of friends as part of our camping adventures at Long Point Provincial Park. From start to finish, the experience was excellent. Equipment was in great condition and the tour was well organized. Josh and the team did a wonderful job teaching us about the flora and fauna of the region as we paddled our way along Big Creek. We saw some animals and other creatures which was a real bonus! The kayaking was not difficult but challenging enough as we had to navigate our way around trees, rocks etc. Lots of fun, even for the novice kayakers in our group. The whole journey took about 5 hours to complete including the picnic lunch. Be sure to bring lots of drinking water, sunscreen, and a hat as there is not a lot of shade along the route. You could probably paddle it on your own but not having to worry about dragging your own gear to the drop in site and also having a knowledgeable guide with you makes the experience so much richer! A great day out and definitely worth the money!

Our group enjoyed a beautiful day on the Big Creek with our two guides Leanne and Nic. The Big Creek billed as Canada’s Amazon offers a georgeous meandering paddle surrounded by nature away from the hustle bustle of life. I was not expecting this to be a tour focused on education but Leanne is a passionate advocate for conservation of all species native to this area. She shared her broad knowledge of every living thing we encountered from moths, bees, and butterflies, bald headed eagle, snapping turtle, to the many beautiful tree and plant species that bank the creek.
The kayaks,pfds/paddles were in good condition. Each of us paddled in a 12 foot Wilderness Pungo -great kayaks, suitable for all/most paddlers. The creek has a steady gentle current that pulls you along with little effort. The trip was about 5+ hrs long due to the slow and leisurely pace, stopping for a relaxing lunch and many discussions along the way. (Some of our group were less interested in the naturalist focus and were eager to quicken the pace). At the end of our tour we were shuttled back to the starting launch point in a large van.

Pros: relaxing day amidst a beautiful, lush landscape, fun navigating the creek with branches and obstructions, great for all ability levels; guide knowledge and care for participants, pictures taken by the guides along the tour were emailed to all who participated as a memory of our day

Cons: very primitive “boom box” amongst the brush - (after a long drive to get there and following a long paddle we gals need a washroom with a bit more shelter), the entrance is poorly marked with a very small green parking sign low to the ground. Fortunately, google maps worked well.
    Advice:
Read the instructions provided by email regarding directions, what to bring, wear, etc. There are no nearby stores or restaurants
Allow more time than 4 hrs so you don’t have time pressure
    Enjoy the experience!

My partner and I had a fantastic day on this tour. Not only was the kayaking an enjoyable activity, but our Guide’s (Leanne) insight and knowledge made it educational. It was a very informative tour! We also appreciate the time she took to send us pictures of our excursion and the helpful resources/links to information that was provided during the tour. Highly recommended!

I have kayaked a couple times in days, nothing ever serious. I had more water experience from being in a canoe. I had no trouble with navigating the water. Once or twice I needed the guides help when I got "stuck" beside a tree and could not get out myself, that was the first obstacle, and the rest were no problem. There is plenty to see from flora to fauna. The water allowed me to float and take it all in, and the ability to paddle when I wanted . The time flew by. The guides were great, they were knowledgeable, and ran it like a well oiled machine. It was great to have parking and the gear all taken care of.

We did this tour as part of our package while staying at the Long Point Eco-Adventure “glampsite”. It was a wonderful day, four hours of paddling and drifting down Big Creek through the Carolinian forest. Josh and Riley provided great leadership, shared good information, and were very personable. The equipment was in excellent shape and the route was an interesting fun paddle. We’d love to do another route with these folks!
