About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- teresacQ2137RK0 contributionsPeaceful lake walkShudu Lake is the main lake in the national park. A shuttle bus drops walkers/hikers off to stay at park resorts or for walkers to begin their journey. The circumference of the lake is about 3km. The walk passes through forests and many flowers of the season. Thankful that there are benches and a kiosk along the route.Written July 20, 2024
- bunkorn0 contributionsDiscover the Thai culture in ChinaAmazing place where you find the root of Thai &Lao people in this areas of China where they live since more thousand years. Although through the time, they succeed to keep their culture & architecture. If you show all the pics you took there to someone, no one could tell you the right answer where is you shot. They would tell you in Thailand or cambodia but never China. For me , it's a real discover!!Written March 10, 2024
- Bill S0 contributionsExcellent time back in natureIt's hard to find nature trails (without any concrete) in China, but this national park near Shangri-La has them. Excellent summertime temperatures too)Written September 12, 2022

- 388gayler0 contributionsLijiang is most beautiful part of China with great guide Jack MaThree of us visited Lijiang for 4 days - I have visited many places in China, I believe that Lijiang is among the most beautiful. We so enjoyed learning about the Naxi ethnic people and Dongba culture. We had an excellent guide Jack Ma of lijiang (@adamlijiang). Jack speaks very good English and he is very knowledgeable about the culture. Jack took us to the best attractions - we didn't have enough days to see it all, so he made sure that we saw the best. I recommend Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, take the cable car to Yak meadow. Incredible! Old authentic temple there too. We went to the show Impressions, also worth it, best if your weather not too hot, we were glad we had raincoats. We saw Tiger Leaping Gorge - awesome! If the stairs down are too much, you can take a sedan chair and be carried like royalty (my husband did this!) We saw several temples, museums, and spent a morning at a really beautiful park in Old Town Lijiang. Jack took us to good restaurants, had good clean comfortable transportation, always had water for us, and he had a way of getting us around many of the long lines that were inevitable due to our travel time during Golden Week. I recommend Lijiang. And Jack Ma as your guide.Written October 29, 2019
- Ste_nice_tea0 contributionsVictory from jaws of defeatThe provider cancelled our booking the day before we were due to take this trip; a landslide had blocked the road. Our itinerary (flights and hotels) were already booked around it on a tight timeline. Sounds like a nightmare, but really they did us a favour. Turns out that these landslides are common and are cleared quickly. We were able to arrange an alternative plan via Seans Guesthouse (v helpful, english speaking) and saw more of the gorge and for a fraction of the trips original price. Bonus. So apart from half a day of stressful research and we-chatter to rearrange everything we came out well!Written September 13, 2019
- 577lyles0 contributionsDay with WONDERFUL experiences! Our guide was Sophie - knowledgeable, helpful and understanding of our pace at 10,000 ft. Although the mountain was hidden by clouds, the cable car to the meadow was worth it. The walk round the ponds and waterfall was a highlight- the picture in your ad does not capture the true beauty. The Impression show far exceeded expectations - easy to follow. Lunch was traditional Naxi food - really enjoyed it..sophis is a superstar!Written September 9, 2019

- William M0 contributionsGreat Day on Snow MountainWhat a fantastic day. My wife and I were there last month as part of a 19 day tour of China. We had been to China before, so this trip was to places off the normal tourist route. All the arrangements and a guide and transportation were provided by China Tours. We had a great time, but were limited to seeing only the Yak Meadow due to health issues. It was well worth the effort and time. The Impression Lijang show is totally different and unexpected, even though it is explained before you go. The show tells the story of the Nakhi people in song, music and motion in a fairly large outdoor amphitheater with multi-tiered performance platforms. The ever changing scenes and flow of the various ethnic groups in native dress on deck and and on horseback is most impressive and interesting. Large screen displays help with English translations and explanations. A must do if in the area.Written May 16, 2019
- BlazeToursandTravels0 contributionsGlorious Day Trip to The First Bend of the Yangtze River, Stone Drum Town, Upper Tiger Leaping Gorge & Black Dragon PoolDriving through country roads with our superlative guide, Sophie to reach the First Bend of the Yangtze River, built up our excitement and when we reached it, we couldn't stop taking photos of the legendary river while she regaled us with its many stories and legends. Then it was onwards to Stone Drum Town. Weaving through the delicacies of its local market, we mingled with its local people as we climbed a narrow village street to The Stone Drum monument which offerrs views of the town with its ethnic houses, the neighbouring countryside, the iconic Soldier and Farmer statue celebrating socialism and the unique chain bridge. After a scrumptious lunch we headed for Tiger Leaping Gorge, one of the world's deepest gorges. To say the view of the gushing water and surrounding landscapes is breath taking would be an understatement. The long climb down to the gorge and the equally lengthy climb up from a deliberately different direction offers different viewing platforms and glimpses of the Gorge at every stage. For the mobility impared there are hardy palanquin bearers available at an extra charge who carry passengers down to the gorge and back up, so that no one misses out on the experience. The place has a mystical feel about it, so much so that our family bought a wish token, wrote and tied the prayers that we had in our hearts along with many others beside the gushing gorge with the hope that heavenly beings would hear us. A must is to visit the toilets at the top of the steps before descending into the gorge or after coming back up, if it's only to glance at the views from the windows. The last stop before we bid Sophie adieu was the natural Black Dragon Pool lake in Jade Spring Park. The lake was so still that we captured many beautiful photos as the sun set of the scenic bridges, pagodas, neighbouring hills and greenery reflected in the water. The setting sun seemed to bathe everything in a golden glow, including us. This Tour was a beautiful and fitting farewell to beautiful Lijiang. ~Felicia Variava Albert, Managing Director, Blaze Tours & Travels Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, IndiaWritten January 22, 2019
- BlazeToursandTravels0 contributionsDay of Natural Beauty, Naxi Culture & a Spectacular Show with Mountains as a backdropNothing prepared us for the unforgettable tour that Yunnan Adventure Travel and guide, Sophie had in store for us. As soon as we left our Hotel, we headed straight for the National Park of which Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, Spruce Meadow, Blue Moon Valley, the Impression Lijiang Show, the Naxi Village and Baisha Murals are all a part of. As we drove through the vast arid landscape leading to the bus station entrance of the park, Sophie requested our driver to stop in certain places from where we could take great photos of the snow capped Jade Dragon Mountain looming in the distance. Once we reached the cable car station after a short bus ride, it was up, up and away, amidst glorious mountain scenery towards Spruce Meadow-a grassy area surrounded by spruce trees, grazed upon by goats and sheep. The meadow which is crested by the Jade Dragon Mountain, is held sacred by the Naxi people. The walk from the cable car station to the meadow is through a forest and it's not uncommon to see lambs and goats run around and munch on a twig or two. Around the meadow are stalls manned by indigenous people, it was here that Sophie recommended that my daughters and I dress up in traditional attire and take photos. Next we made our way down by cable car to the buggy station, as we were to travel to the glacial lakes of Moon Valley. As Sophie explained, minerals in the lakes make them change colour during every season. We were lucky to see vivid blue and green water and very clear views of the surrounding mountains and forests. The walk by the lakes is very intelligently designed with boardwalks and paved paths. Since the area is very romantic, we were privy to many a pre wedding photo shoot. What excited our daughters the most however, was seeing a pair of white yaks, in the company of an authentic Naxi tribal. Much photography later, we caught a shuttle bus to the open air venue of the Impressions Show. This jaw dropping spectacle of music, dance and drama conceptualised and directed by famed Chinese film director, producer, writer, actor, and former cinematographer, Zhang Yimou, has hundreds of ethnic people from neighbouring villages as its actors, horsemen and musicians. The show which takes place thousands of feet above sea level is set against the backdrop of snow capped mountains. Lunch was immediately after in an authentic Nexi village restaurant, where we feasted on fresh local delicacies before taking a leisurely walk through the town, watching people go about their everyday tasks and hearing about their ways from Sophie. The highlight was visiting the Embroidery Institute with its spectacular award winning displays and watching students hard at work. Sophie's eye for detail drew our attention to Naxi "grannies", elderly women who are care givers of their grand children while their parents are busy at work; and to cute "tile cats" that adorn many a village roof, protecting the homes and its occupants from evil. The Baisha murals which Sophie took us to next were very interesting in their detail and it was amazing to know of their significance and extent of survival through the ages, thanks to her knowledgeable and detailed commentary. Our last stop was a stroll with Sophie through Lijiang Ancient Town, being a local, she knew all of its intricacies and encouraged us to sample many a local delicacy. If I could turn back time, I would play this day back in a loop! Thank you Yunnan Adventure Travel and Sophie for making it spectacular for us. ~Felicia Variava Albert, Managing Director, Blaze Tours & Travels Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai, IndiaWritten January 22, 2019
- cgpalomino0 contributionsHorseback Riding & Wetland Park TourWe had an awesome time with Yunnan Adventure! They helped craft a day trip that was perfect for my husband and I. My husband has IBS and they took special care to map out all the restrooms along the way. Our horse ride was fun, although it would probably be more beautiful in the summertime. Having our guide, Mr. Mu was very helpful! He picked us up, explained the area, and arranged for all of our activities. A perfect day!Written December 28, 2018
- NoGoGuy0 contributionsLijiang 1-Day Biking Tour to Several Naxi TownsPaid 820/person for one-day biking tour. This was the description: "Pick you up at your hotel in the morning at about 9:30 am. Then get your bikes from Lijiang Old Town. Start cycling from Lijiang Old Town to Lashihai Lake ( 10km, 1 hour). Then cycling around Lashihai Lake ( 10 km, 1 hour). Then cycle to Shuhe Old Town(9 km, 1 hour cycling, and visit Shuhe ( 2 hours). After that, continue cycling to Baisha Old Town(6 km, 30 minutes). Visit the old town and Baisha Murals ( 30 minutes). Cycle back to Lijiang Old Town ( 11 km, 1 hour). Service ends." Overall, very good tour with excellent guide. I'm glad we did it. However, there were some issues: - Bikes were not properly tuned and could not shift into lower gears. - They did not provide an XL bike. I installed my own handlebar extender for the day, and that saved my back. They should at least have addressed that issue in the pre-trip back-and-forth. - Guide was poorly-informed about what was and what was not included. I initially paid lunch, then he checked and returned money. - No locks included with bikes. Made it hard to park them safely in Baisha. Don't mean to be overly negative - just hope they address these issues for future clients. All in all, a totally worthwhile experience. Stopped at awesome restaurant in Shuhe. Great way to see the landscape and learn about Naxi culture (from a Naxi guide).Written November 13, 2018
- dtealcarlson0 contributionsFABULOUS Trek seeing AMAZING sceneryTrekking along Tiger Leaping Gorge isn’t for the faint of heart, but well worth it! The guide, Linda, is native to the area and very helpful and knowledgeable. She’s also encouraging to two 50+ year olds hiking where only 20 & 30 somethings were going. The trek starts out going straight up and doesn’t let up much the first day. But lunch at the NaXi Family Restaurant is VERY welcome and VERY GOOD. The first afternoon is challenging along 28-bend trail, but the vista view is AMAZING and worth the climb atop a 3000m height. Reaching the halfway point by late afternoon, we were settled into the upgraded Shan Mei Hotel which was VERY welcome!!! Gorgeous view, excellent accommodations and friendly family hosts. Dinner and breakfast were both at the hotel and very satisfying. Day 2 was quite easy compared to day one as we mostly climbed downwards. We saw a dramatic waterfall and enjoyed the trek. Lunch was at Tina’s and then we drove back to the upper Gorge to view it up close. We descended 500 steps to see the gorge’s rushing power, then climbed the same distance back up. We ended our journey in Shangrila at E-Outfitting Boutique Hotel. Rustic in style, but clean and very comfortable. FABULOUS trip and our guide, Linda, was AMAZING! We highly recommend this trek, but be aware that it is a bit difficult at times.Written November 2, 2018
- GoPlaces008994434570 contributionsOur Yunnan Muslim TourWe went to Yunnan China from 20th -29th October 2018. Halal food is easily available throughout Yunnan. There were halal restaurants in Kunming, Dali, Lichiang and even in Shangri La. Just tell the guide you need halal food and they will be able to bring you to some good restaurants. Do note however that they mostly Chinese style dishes. Coming from Singapore , we enjoyed the Chinese style stir fried vegetables and beef with rice . And noodles too. We had brought along a small cooker just in case and it came in handy to prepare breakfast. We didn’t take the breakfast at the hotels. We stayed at Holiday Inn at Kunming . Two mosques (Namcheng mosque and Yongning mosque) were walking distance to the hotel and there were many halal eateries nearby. We visited the Stone Forest and Jiuxiang caves. From Kunming, we went to Dongchuan to see the Red lands. Only for Dongchuan, We had to take some prepacked food . The staff at the lodge also gave us some fresh vegetables which we cooked on our own . We stayed two nights at Dali near the Erhai lake. We also visited the ancient town and found 2 mosques within the ancient town itself. There was a good restaurant outside one of the mosques. We visited the scenic Erhai lake , In Lijiang, we visited a mosque and the ancient town. Then we visited the Jade dragon snow mountain, and Blue Moon Valley . Most of the halal restaurants in Lijiang are owned by Muslims from Dali. On the way to Shangri La, we visited Tiger Leaping Gorge. And in Shangri La, we visited the old town and Pudacuo National Park The guide told us that there is a Muslim village in Shangri La but it is about 300 kn away. Back in Kunming , we saw a halal bakery named Bread works on the way to the airport. We couldn’t stop but were lucky to find the same bakery outlet at the international departure lounge at the airport Yunnan is a beautiful place and you will find many reviews on the places to visit. I am specifically writing to let Muslim travelers know they need not worry about finding halal food. Just pack your bags and go... And enjoy the wonders of beautiful Yunnan.Written October 31, 2018
