the story of the statue is very interesting lost then found again. The king was born in this town and did great things for the Hawaiian islands and it's people. it's located at the town hall across from the King's view cafe.

Great place to take photos and learn if the great king. We stopped here after our hike to the Pololu Valley. Across the street has beautiful things for sale and really good shaved ice.

If you're already coming here, or in the area, then stop for the requisite picture with the statue and history signs. Kids grudgingly posed!

A huge, colorful statue by the side of the road. Iteresting for a quick stop to marvel at the like-ness to some Roman gladiator. Cast in Italy, lost at sea, then recovered and restored to the king's birthplace. Wow !

Other reviewers have said it before....IF and ONLY IF, you are in the area anyways, stop for a quick photo and a bit of history but honestly, it is not worth driving all that way just to see it. The photos posted on TripAdvisor show...More
