Visited in October for first time in over a year. Disappointing to see that KWS has decided to remove all rubbish bins from the trail. The result: all rubbish thrown on the ground. Totally unacceptable and foolish from KWS. People will generate waste. The fact...More

What more do you want besides beautiful views and wildlife sightings as you get in some exercise? The trail is easy to follow, but my recommendation is to go in a counter-clockwise direction around the crater once you get to the top/the banda. Also, try...More

My girlfriend and I climbed Longonot with our guide Dan and our game driver Mohamed. Our experience was wonderful. We loved seeing the wildlife and the viewpoints along the climb. The distance from the entrance of the park to rim of the crater is about...More

We reached Mt. Longonot national park using a boda from Longonot town.Their entry fee is steep for foreigners, but it is a good one-day hike. We are fit, but do not hike too frequently. With the sun, it can be challenging. The initial part is...More

I visited Mount Longonot this past weekend with my boyfriend after doing much research on TripAdvisor and I'm very glad I did. We started the hike at 9 a.m. which worked out very well as it wasn't too crowded yet at that time. The ascent...More

Gorgeous views. Be sure you bring plenty of water and a snack. We are pretty fit 30 year olds and we found it quite challenging. It took us one hour to reach the rim, then 3 hours to go around the rim, and 40 mins...More

I'm 58 with a knee replacement two years ago. This was my first hike in 40 years since I injured the knee. Probably should have had smaller hikes first but I did it and it was great. Took me 7 hours not 4 or 5...More

This is a must-see for all outdoorsy explorers. The 45 minute hike to the rim was easy for the experienced hikers in our 4 person group, and tough for the other two. The 3 hour trip around the crater was phenomenal and not too arduous...More

Breathtaking views and what an accomplishment! Read the below carefully.. It’s a 2 hour drive from Nairobi, so get a cab which waits at the base and takes you back. A typical cab would take 60$ for the trip (12 hours) Entry fee into the...More

If you're in the area (Navaisha, Hell's Gate etc) you really should make time for this park. You can hike up, around the rim and back down in 4 hours if you're pushed for time, or go at a more leisurely pace if you have...More

Trainers will suffice. However, if you circumvent the crater, be aware that you will likely have to stop several times to empty bits of gravel out of them... The loose gravel gets kicked up easily!
