The drive into and out of Faial da Terra where this waterfall hike is located is a treat for your senses. We first had lunch in the town, then made our way to the parking lot at the beginning of the trail. Now this is...More

A long drive from Ponta Delgada, and a 5km loop to walk but it's more than worth it. You park down in Faial da Terra and walk North to a well signposted route. It's rough terrain and a steep climb in places, so wear appropriate...More

I enjoyed the walk to this waterfall and also the view itself once we got there. Nice place for a picnic.

Excellent hiking trail with a picturesque waterfall as a reward. The trail is steep and partly muddy so boots are recommended. Do not forget to take your camera with you! The humidity is >90% so technical clothing is an advantage.

This hike was perhaps the favorite on the entire trip. The hike to the waterfall was beautiful, and the waterfall even more so. Definitely make the time to do this hike.

From Faial you walk up past a small stream along a pleasant footpath, at the trail marker the path divides, left is very steep so go right and you eventually get to the waterfall. Returning the circular trail goes through a deserted village then you...More

The trail to Salto do Prego leads you to a beautfiul waterfall surrounded by river rock. We would recommend hiking early in the day as it gets rather crowded around the falls by late morning/noontime. Do not hesitate to also do Salto do Cabrito while...More
