How many many flowers you see at the Moldovita monastery! It's a walled church/monastery with painted exterior walls and the beautiful flower beds and gardens and window boxes everywhere. Floral heaven in this little part of northern Romania. Stroll, contemplate, and wonder at the 15th...More

The monastery might not be famous for the paintings and history, like the sister monasteries of Putna and Voronet (not that it does not have them), but it does stand out as being one of the best maintained ones. The garden is spectacular, deep green...More

This monastery is placed in a wonderful landscape, the walls built from river stone are decorated with bricks and connect the rounded towers who defended the church many centuries. Inside you will discover a small museum where they have the real trone of Petru Rares...More

The monastery was built in 1532. It is covered with similar paintings as Voronet Monastery, but predominant colour is yellow. The Monastery is UNESCO protected, the same as Voronet and Sucevita Monasteries. It is beautiful and worth a visit.

We've been there for Easter and the people and the atmosphere were great. The monastery is well preserved and Nun Tatiana was very nice. She explained to our kids the paintings and the historical details of the monastery.

I came to Bucovina area specifically to see some of the painted monasteries. For 50 euros I hired a taxi that drove me to four monasteries and the popular Egg Museum. My favorite was the Romanian Orthodox Moldovita Monastery built in 1532. The main reason...More

Very beautiful church and charming monastery. It resembles a small and picturesque citadel, like the ones you can find in old tales.

Very nice monastery. Not very big but full of culture. Too bad the museum was close when we arrived, we wanted to see again the famous gold apple. Entrance is free.
