I really enjoyed it. It was not steep, beautiful, tranquil, forest surroundings. I am not a hiker and still managed to easily do the next walk, the inforno. Couple of stairs, but beautiful views and more tunnels.

Better start hiking early in the morning when there is parking space and when there aren't too many hikers on the trail .

It's one of the most beautiful walks in Madeira, just breathtaking. It is advertised as a walk, which makes people be unprepared. Very important: wear hiking boots (no snickers or sandals-yes, I saw plenty of those during our hike), have a waterproof/windproof jacket with you,...More

Been there at the end of August, went by bus from Funchal to Santana, quite an early one (10h departure). The total duration of the bus-trip was 2 hours, because of a traffic jam, which commonly happens. Arrived in Santana, we took a cab to...More

We did this levada on a guided tour. Beautiful views and stunning scenery. The end point is beautiful and not too crowded for lunch. The walk is quite easy, though you will need stout trainers or walking boots. In a lot of places the paths...More

The parking lot is big and we found out that we didn’t had to buy a ticket as the barrier was open when we left (proud sponsor). We started the walk at 3 o’clock when the big crowds where already gone. I forgot my swimsuit...More

Not sure as I hired a car. But it is uphill on a narrow road, I cannot remember seeing any public buses up there. Enough taxis though you could arrange?
