This is a must do on a trip to Sao Miguel. Make sure you've got enough days on the island to see this on a clear or at least semi clear day. This is a popular place, be prepared for crowds. There are several different...More
The truly royal view stretches from the Vista do Rei viewpoint to the two twin lakes covering the bottom of the volcanic crater. As if it were an illusion - the surface of the water - one lake is blue and the other is a...More
Limited parking. We went at 5:30 in the afternoon to avoid the crowds. Often very crowded and cloudy. Clouds burn off later in the day. No charge to park or view. Views of the lake and the ocean. One of the best views on the...More
There are now two parking lots, the one to the left of the view point is for longer duration parking if you are doing hikes. The Azores website has hiking maps/walking trails for the island. There are a few hiking options depending on how long...More

This is a great alternative for Boca do Inferno:
- no hiking involved, parking is right at the view point
- foggy at boca do inferno, we came here straight from boca do inferno which was foggy and can't see a thing to here when...More
Maybe since we have been fortunate to visit many different places in the world with similar views, we found it to be nice but nothing spectacular. If you haven't traveled that much, then most definitely go and you will find the beauty it has to...More
If you go to the Azores and are spending any time on Sao Miguel, this is a must-see for your itinerary. It is probably one of the most photographed views of the island and with good reason. From the viewing point you look out over...More
