A stunningly beautiful vei situated at the base of the Big Daddy dune. It is maybe 1.5km walk in mainly soft sand from the 4x4 parking area. It is not particularly steep but quite hard going when it gets hot...the earlier in the day the...More

you walk over the top of a small dune and then you see it...... the scene is incredible. Try and get there early as it does get hot by noon.

This is an amazing dead river and trees. Most interesting and pictures beautiful because of the sky, rock and tree formations. Mind your step.

this is an awesome spot, the walk up to the deadvlei was not too difficult and we spent a long time exploring the trees.

This is one of the places on my bucket list and my only regret is not having visited earlier. Seeing the old dead trees against the red dunes and white clay is truly otherworldly. The vlei is about 1.1 km away from the parking lot...More

A dried up lake bed with hardened clay surface surrounded by 900 year old trees preserved in the dry desert heat. Surrounded by fantastic dunes. A bit of a hike but well worth it. Really something to see.

This probably is not much help, but we were taken by private transport and arrived at around 0800. The transfers were in operation by this time.

You can drive a regular car/sedan all the way to where the pavement ends, at which point you will have to park at the parking area there and take one of the free 4x4 shuttles the rest of the way to the Deadvlei parking area.
