I stayed in 1001 Night Wahiba Accommodation which was sooooo amazing experience. Because we traveled in winter time, so night was very cold but nice !! My opinion please don't come after April, as will be so hot.

Some bedouins in the beginning of the desert, but then only sand mountains and ... silence. Unique location, not to miss when you are traveling in Oman

I visited as a participant of the Oman Desert Marathon, which is a multi day event through the desert. It is absolutely spectacular. Enormous sandy dunes in every direction. It looks sparse and monotone sand until you look closer and see the tracks of reptiles,...More

Proper desert. Real Lawrence of Arabia stuff. Baking in the day and cold at night. Huge amazing dunes, solitude and raw natural beauty. Try to avoid the Omanis who love to drive up and down dunes for no apparent reason at night and during the...More

Its quite a long drive up from Salalah. some people do it back-and-forth in one day. I would recommend to stay overnight in a beduin camp nearby. the dunes are as spectacular in the morning as in the evening.
