Its once of the most happening place in Santo Domingo and kind of must visit for every tourist coming to Santo Domingo. The street is around 2-3 Kms long and since no vehicle is allowed one can wonder around. There are lots of shops selling...More

Zona Colonial offers a variety on interesting historic building and locations. So if one is familiar with the history, close your eyes at Plaza Colon and you will see Columbus back.

The streets leading to the colonial area, especially the entrance points, are clogged with 'guides' touting tours. Avoid them and see it on your own. Most of it is self-explanatory and the museums have self-guided tours. Also, the head and humidity make walking around this...More

I was surprised to see the amount of security that the colonial zone had around it to provide security to all present. Good job!!!

Walking the zona colonial is a must if you are in Santo Domingo, your mind will easily travel to the 1500s. You feel safe while walking in the streets.

Lots of restaurants and small souvenirs shops. A couple of nice art galleries and many art shops where you can find new artist’s work. But in general not much to do.

Music, walking and dancing. Great place to walk off a heavy dinner. We ate at Jalao and it was great. There’s valet parking right by the restaurant.

This part of the city is really wonderful, it has been refurbished and it is really nice, full of life and of welcome preserved monuments.

You can take in most of what the Zona Colonial has to offer in 2 to 3 days. Very worthwhile part of our tour of the eastern Dominican Republic, including the Las Terrenas on the Semana peninsula and Punta Cana.
