You go by boat out to the park, through the mangroves. There are a couple of stops in the park to hike the trails into the caves and caverns that have great cave paintings. Well worth the trip. Great for photographs

Where we stayed it called Altos de Cano Hondo Hotel they were offering guided tours through 'bosque humeda' /rainforest. So yes, you could contact the hotel about that excursion. We never went so couldn't tell you more about the excursion itself.
