My wife and I drove the Hana Highway and decided to continue on to Kipahulu and see the grave of Charles Lindbergh. The road out of Hana quickly becomes narrow, especially when it turns into Pi'Iani Highway. In many places, the road is basically one...More

A grave of Charles Lindbergh buried at a church that overlooks the ocean. It is a quaint location and would be tough to find unless you are on a tour.

If we'd been on our own, we wouldn't have been able to see this since it's on the backside of the Road to Hana, which is off-limits to rental cars. I was so glad we were able to include it among the sites we visited....More

We visited on our full circle Hana tour and this is worth the stop. A very peaceful location in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful chapel at the entry way to the grave site and the gardens are beautiful. A must visit if you have travelled...More

If you have driven the Road to Hana this is a somewhat interesting diversion. Not much there other than a very remote, peaceful church and graveyard. You feel like you are driving into private property but the signs guide you once you turn off the...More

This is a place not to be missed while on a circle the island road trip. Watch out for the sparsely posted signs and take the 1/2 mile detour. Once there you will find a chapel, a cemetary and a view that is unfortunately obstructed...More

Charle's Lindbergh's final resting place is just a short drive beyond Hana in Kipehulu. Easy to miss, look for the Palapala Ho'omau Congregational Church sign. The small chapel is open and welcoming. My wife and I were fortunate to find a gentleman of the community...More

This is an unfussy memorial to a significant figure in 20th century history. Whilst his middle life life was touched with pain and difficulties in the criminal loss of a child and his anti war stance, it is bookended by his historic achievements as an...More

If you go to Hana continue on for eight miles just past marker 41 you will make a left turn, short distance left again to Palapala Congregational Church. Very small church, notice the stained glass window of Christ in Royal Hawaiian robes. Grave has a...More

Depending on the day and the time you happen to stop at the church will determine just how close you can park. Just remember it's exactly one mile (1.6kms) from the sacred pools (that aren't sacred).
