The best thing about Victoria is the convenience of having so many restaurants, bars, stores, and scenery so close at hand. Bastion Square is good for an hour walk or shorter, or a longer walk with meals, treats, and shopping.

Some nice stores and often some buskers during the summer. Nice pubs, restaurants and shops to spend some time as you walk around Victoria.

We went to Bastion Square with friends visiting from New Zealand. Bastion Square was on the list of things to see in Victoria. I must admit I was not impressed. There are some interesting historical buildings but the overall effect is spoiled by what has...More

This square connects the waterfront with inner downtown. There’s numerous indie restaurants populating the square amid mixed businesses.. nice area to walk

We walked through the gate past about 40 tables with crafts and many cafes and quirky shops until we got to the flower sculpture at the harbor.

We ate at The Locals on Bastion Square. We had a nice outdoor table. Service was good as was the food. We listened to a guitar playing singer on the steps.

Walking through this area is a good way to get off the sidewalks and onto a 'no cars' area. The night we were there the restaurants were extremely busy and music was everywhere. Most of the vendors were closing up for the evening. We walked...More

Bastion Square today is as close to a shopping mecca as can be found in Victoria. This is the heart of "Old Town" (or towne, if in the English vernacular) and this is where all of us tourists must visit on our Victoria pilgrimage. This...More

Very central and bustling with young people. Lively too, if there is music. But beware of druggies. But a good experience with a historical twist too.
