Pedestrained area of the old town with kiosks selling souvenirs and snacks around the area. Nelson's Column and a fountain were located there. A place for natives and tourists who enjoyed performing peddlers.

After walking along Rue St-Paul this was a let-down. A good selection of restaurants, but not anything out of the ordinary. It's basically a square that is passed on the way to another location.

We were here on a Sunday when lots of interesting market stalls filled the area. We also found an Inuit shop and display of interesting things, just next to a very noisy Baskin Robbins.

There is a Nelson's Column at the northwestern end of the square, but other than that, there is nothing unique or special about this square except hordes of tourists taking selfies. Perhaps if you like to people watch, especially tourists, this is the place to...More

On our recent cruise stop in Montreal, we visited Place Jacques Cartier, about a 10 minute walk from the Grand Quai cruise ship terminal. Place Jacques Cartier is hilly so we found it most convenient to walk downhill on it from Rue Notre Dame, by...More

We have been here before but not for many years. The art here is quite enjoyable and the kiosks and restaurants located here are diverse with plenty of varied arts and crafts and food for sale.

Beautiful and well maintained Place Jacques Cartier is a square located in Old Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It is an entrance to the Old Port of Montreal really. Lots of restaurantes and Cafe's. It's lovely to walk by. Beautiful garden next to it. Flowers everywhere.

Pedestrianised area of the old town, a popular choice for food. Buskers, kiosks, artists and life in general. At the bottom, it joins on to the road along the port where you can book boat trips.
