What distinguishes the Upper Town and the Lower Town seems to me to be the number of monuments and statues and canyon in the Upper Town especially facing the St. Lawrence River. But the highlight is the iconic Chateau Frontenac when viewed on Terrasse Dufferin...More

The last port on our cruise was Quebec where we spent 2 additional nights after departing the ship. We stayed at the Chateau Frontenac in Upper Town and really enjoyed it. There are many restaurants, shops and small parks in the area. Unlike most of...More

Take the Tram from the Lower City, and explore the many shops and restaurants that abound up there. The buildings are part of the lore here.

So much eye candy - even though we didn't take a guided tour, we were dazzled by the architecture and ambience. Get in shape before you go!

It's a hike from the lower part of town to get here, but it's worth it for the sights and views. There is an options to take a funicular to the top without having to walk up so many stairs.

Still reminds me of Old World Europe, but has some modern buildings. Traffic Police (not real Police) will question you if you are loitering. Greats views of down below and the port.

The upper town within the city walls is well worth a visit. Fantastic views over the St. Lawrence valley and many interesting buildings which add character.

From the Fairmount to the small streets to the boardwalk, everything was quaint. Well preserved, well thought out. Great views.

Yes, there is a small elevator at the top ( hold the button all the way down and an exit via a small pathway to avoid some steps at the bottom.

We walked around the upper and lower town but took a city tour with a tour company to see where we wanted to spend more time. You can call in the visitor centre and get plenty of information that will help you.
