A unique way to see and experience some of the masters. Walking through VanGogh's paintings was an experience all of its own. The quarry itself was quite impressive.
A trip up the road to the town of Beaux made the day even more special
One of the most amazing experiences I have had! Huge former quarry where painting are projected on to the walls, some with objects in the painting moving (such as the stars in Van Gogh's "Starry Night") with musical accompaniment. There was no waiting the day...More
What a wonderful experience! It’s not only about the art but the music, the movement, the vibrant colors and the space!
I highly recommend no matter what artist is being projected. We saw Van Gogh but I will come back for Dali and others.
A few friends recommended this to us and thank goodness. Le Baux is beautiful. Stunning ruins, cute town, but you should not miss out on Carrieres Des Lumieres. Honestly come for it alone! Built out of the old stone quarry, they project a video art...More
While on a BackRoads Active Culinary trip in Provence we visited Carrieres des Lumieres. They were showing Van Gogh. I don't think it would matter what artist they were featuring, this is a wonderful experience.
The Van Gogh exhibit was very beautiful! The location - an old limestone quarry - was perfect for the installation. The choice of materials and accompanying music was moving and evokes deep appreciation for Van Gogh and his masterpieces. It was definitely worth the side...More

We visited the carriere during a sound and lightshow with van Gogh and Japanese painitings. What a thrilling experience: one could literally walk through the various paintings of van Gogh with even the floors and ceilings coverd. Parking is not easy and there can be...More

There are a number of trains per day between Lyon and Arles (the nearest major centre) and travel time one way is around 3 plus hours depending on the train. You then need to rent a car or take bus tour as it’s in a very rural setting. Why not consider going to Arles for an overnight as there are also many interesting things to do there too?
