This museum is probably pretty cool, when it’s not absolutely jam packed. I went on a Thursday and there was barely room to move around. Also the flow of the museum could be better thought out, as sometimes it was a bit confusing keeping track...More

I highly recommend this museum for its artifacts, history, and insights. It is small and was crowded on our visit, so maybe go very early in the day. The recreated apartments really helped us understand life in East Berlin during the Cold War.

Excellent museum with countless toys, machines, textiles, etc. from the former East Germany. Rather interactive, as well, given the many drawers you can pull out to read about what you are looking at. The "house" with the many rooms - living room, bathroom, bedroom -...More

We wanted to learn more about life in the DDR and this did not disappoint. Lots of interactive exhibits. The only quibble was the sheer number of people but that shows how popular it is. Combine with the stasi museum to find out how bizarre...More

I recommend a visit to this museum to anybody interested in cold war history, or people fascinated by the human psyche. It is not a huge museum, but it's crammed with objects (including a Trabant), information and pictures of everyday life in the German Democratic...More

This had been recommended by a friend and it was well worth the visit. It makes you think what it would have been like to live in the eastern block. It gets busy so well worth visiting in the morning.

There's a wealth of information crammed into the DDR Museum, including a Trabi and a typical DDR apartment. I think it succeeds brilliantly in making the political personal, showing the good and bad of how it was to live under the communist regime in the...More

Definitely Saturday at 7 p.m. is the better option with less visitors. And yes we are happy that our museum is highly recommended and the average spend is more about 2 hours.
