It's a long time since I was in Sachsenhausen as a young student and was introduced to Handkaese mit Musik, a local dish as I recall to accompany the endless glasses of Apfelwein (Eppelvoi) for which the area is famous. Possibly an acquired taste. Anyway,...More

I went to the Sachsenhausen area as it was recommended and I wanted to try the apfelwein (apple wine). I must have came the morning after a huge party as it was just trashed, broken glass everywhere. I asked someone working and he said it...More

This was on my list of places to visit while in Frankfurt and it was sort of a disappointment. If you want authentic food or a party atmosphere, then go at night. Otherwise, it is mostly a ghost town and nothing "historical" to view.

This area is very lively as there are many restaurants and pubs here. Many people hang out here. Great place to go to on a Friday night.

One may form an impression of Frankfurt by the horrific main station, moving war history museums or the omnipresent business facades. Sachsenhausen however tells a different story, offering a glance at a warmer, closer, nicer, calmer, somewhat relaxed city life.

Very interesting visit to this camp through Insider Tour through Viator. Our Guide was Phil. We found it a little confusing at the start as to where to get the actual tickets. More detail from Insider Tour on the paperwork would be helpful. Phil was...More
