As forts go, the space occupied by the Fortaleza de Sagres is enormous. It will not be the most impressive fort or museum you will visit, nor will it be the most crammed with displays and information. Indeed, it is a bit on the sparse...More

To say this fort was built in the 14th century, the fort wasn’t impressive to look at, probably due to the fort being damaged in an earthquake in 1755. So taking this into account the fort is not beautiful. However the views are stunning and...More

Gorgeous views, not over visited by tourists this time of year but the weather was still nice. Great stop on the coastal hike.

Views on the walk out are very good (I didn’t think as good as Cape Vincent) - €3 entry fee to walk around the walls of the fort not really worth it.

The views are astonishing, with ocean as far as the eyes could see. Fantastic piece of Portugal history. Recommended.

Really nice attraction for all ages. The views from here are amazing and the fort is spectacular. I would love to back at the height of surf season.

Fortress nothing special but walkway to point was good but very windy. Lots of markers along the way. Worth the 3 euro admission to walk the grounds. Nice day trip from Lagos.

Sitting on the edge of the world you’d expect great views and Sagres delivers. The Fort is massive and reflects Portugal’s naval prowess. The walk from the fort to the lighthouse and back is ~2km. Lots of info posted along the way. It can be...More

Allow at least an hour to walk the inside perimeter of the fortress. We were lucky to see a family of pilot whales on the far eastern shore where a couple local fishermen were casting their rods from high up on the cliffs. Only 3euros...More

Quite a bit of walking, but well marked and laid out. Especially great if you are interested in European history! Allow at least an hour!

We had no idea when we landed in Faro that our resort was 2 Hrs away in Sagres so we rented a car which was easy and cheap. When we returned to Faro we took train to Lisbon. I think trying to get to Lagos or Sagres via... More
