Worth the climb up the volcano to see down into this crater. But be prepared to go there more than once if you want the perfect photo because cloud/ mist rolls in and out quite often

We were so lucky to arrive at this spectacular destination fog free. The views are just breathtaking. The saying in the Azores is that you can experience 4 seasons in one day. As we left the fog was rolling in.

The (single) lake is unbelievably two completely different colours, best seen on a sunny day (harder to tell the difference if cloudy). Check Spot Azores webcams before you travel as it's often cloudier here than the coast. Aside from the various viewpoints there are some...More

A must do experience when in Sete Cidades ! Hiking the ridge around the crater is a once in a lifetime experience. When you arrive there can be quite a few tour buses taking in the views. Depending upon your arrival time try to do...More

A perfect place to see the beauty of San Miguel island. It is important to plan your visit at sunny day to be able to see colors of these lakes.

We were there in November and had no problem with accessing trails. Seasonal weather may have changed that, check with Tourism Azores, they are very current and knowledgeable .
