We really didn’t know what to expect of our visit to the Palace but it was an amazingly large and impressive place filled with beautiful trompe l’oeil decoration and fabulous interiors from 18th Century. The library and Basilica are tremendously beautiful too.

When we visited there were not too many people, which was nice. There is a small admission charge but I think it is well worth it. The palace is huge and furnished in a very royal style. The explanations were pretty good too. But the...More

I loved visiting this palace with my group. The palace is literally huge and took us about an hour and a half (not including the gardens), but I could’ve spent even more time in there if we weren’t on a schedule. The best room was...More

Visited the National Palace, Staff were helpful with the best value ticket (the cost of 12 Euro for a family of 5 was very good value compared with attractions in the UK) The building, furnishings and historic treasures are amazing and awe inspiring. The temperature...More

A place you should definitely visit if in Mafra. It’s a very cool feeling walking through the halls and thinking how much history has taken place there. Very beautiful artwork and garden.

We didn't go inside because of out 9 months old son, so we walked...More

Many people go to Queluz, most go to Sintra. But a bit further north there is also Mafra. Another huge palace, with many paintings and artefacts. And an impressive library, which stirred my librarians heart! Plenty of information available in English in all the rooms....More
