The Castle of the Cheese looks nice. When we visited was closed though, so we just saw the outside of it.

I’m not an expert in castles but this seemed a little unimposing. We HO the yellow bus and take in the castle. The views down the coast towards Porto are lovely but on a cold blowy day, we didn’t stay long, and then H back...More

Located on the sea fron this edifice is easy to find - retains all the significant historic elements of such a building given it's primary 'security' goal. Worth taking in as you wander down the sea front.

We visited Castelo do Queijo, or Forte de São Francisco Xavier, but also just the “Castle of the Cheese” on our first full day in Oporto. Our guide/driver had circled down from Matosinhos, and its beach, and parked almost in front of the Castle, for...More

If you are travelling on the city tour buses this worth a short stop to stretch your legs, and at a cost of only 0.5€ it will not break the bank. You can also visit SeaLife, and take a stroll along the beach to watch...More

The old defence fort from 1661 is a fantastic cheap find, entry is 50cents and the views of the coast are amazing, you can get a sense inside of why it was positioned there in the first place. Great little find and a very cheap...More
