When sunny, Drøbak makes a perfect day trip from Oslo! We took the 10 o'clock ferry from Aker Brygge but we still don't know if we bought the right ticket! There should be a Ruter ticket desk on the port, many people, even Norwegians didn't...More
Relatively short drive by car from Oslo center but discovered once there that a ferry was departing from Oslo port which we would have preferred.

Took a boat from downtown Oslo to Drøbak. The cruise guide was informative and our tour of the town was great. The people of the town are friendly and there are many restaurants and cafe's to stop at for a quick bite.

I can only speak from my experience. I also have ancestors from Norway and wanted to see where they were from. I first visited in 2007 and fell in love with the whole country. Now we go back almost every year. When making the long journey from California to Europe, I always try to squeeze in a trip to Norway since I have already come so far.
If the only destination is Drobak, you will likely fly to Oslo anyway and will want to spend some time there. It is a beautiful country.
