Probably the most interesting and thrilling thing about this place is route leading to it, it goes up and down, through some spectacular gorges and hills and remote villages. Structure itself is very basic, interior is basically not existing apart from outside walls. View from...More

An old crusader castle which was largely rebuilt by the Mamluks Great location and much more atmospheric then Kerak as a result of that isolation They are planning a protection zone for the area. Something to be celebrated and promoted

This was a great stop on the road to Petra. Take some time to explore the ruined castle. Lots of interesting areas and a commanding view of the valley below.

We stopped to explore here on our way to Petra. The ruins are well preserved and it was so fun to walk around-in and through all the passage ways. Entrance fee was only 1 dinar per person. Awesome views from the castle!

Impressive in every respect. Try and get a photo as you approach the castle; the downward sloping road affords an excellent view. Great views from the battlements and such an interesting site.

This is a unique crusader castle which is off the beaten path, on the way from Amman to Petra, quiet closer to Petra and can be visited en route. One can visit the entire castle comfortably in less than an hour. The only downside is...More

We stopped here after visiting Kerak Castle but it was a short visit, just in the area. This site is just OK, it is in a more neglected state and not that much to see. Only if you are really interested, but if you are...More

We didn't plan to go here - we were driving from Wadi Musa/Petra to Madaba and had only planned to stop at Karak Castle, but we saw the signs and thought why not. You can park at the Visitor Centre or take your chances driving...More

We wished we'd had a guide for this monument as there was a lot to see and we kept doubling back. A lot needs to be yet restored and much is unsafe but the views from all sides are spectacular
