Fascinating and diverse neighborhood -- don't believe the hype -- it's perfectly safe. This is a little traveled-to spot that should be on anyone's radar who loves history and/or the church. It's been restored since I saw it 30 years ago, and I am SO...More

Really fascinating basilica with a very significant royal history. Taking the time to see the crypt and the sarcophagi is well worth it. Easy to get to by metro.

I finally made it out to this site and was amazingly surprised. All of the history of Paris is right here in the crypt. The church looks rather non-descript from the outside but inside was beautiful and to see kings and queens from the last...More

This is in my opinion the most historically significant church in Paris!! Perhaps people do not go because it is not in the center of Paris! It is a beautiful church! The first major gothic church and model for Notre Dame! And the Kings of...More

This was our last cathedral on our list and we saved the best for last. Cathedral was beautiful but the history of the royal families buried there was fascinating.

What a fascinating place just drenched in history. Saint Denis is important for two reasons, it’s architecture is the birth of the Gothic style and it was the burying place of French royalty as far back as Dagobert and Pepin the Short! We're talking 5th...More

I visited the cathedral which seemed so out of place in comparison to the local area. I took time to walk in and around the building, and walk around the local market to see the locals and I found a little stall with boxes of...More

Yes, take line 13 to the Basilica stop. There is a museum about the history of Saint-Denis and a large park near the Basilica.

Previous answers are probably the best with taxis being quicker. However the Metro is also available and a one one trip would take about an hour. The Basilica is quite stunning and well worth the visit. I am not sure if you... More
