Although there is nice hiking on the mountain, and beautiful views, the main attraction is likely the birding. There are many 'backpackers', likely because everything is so affordable, but the thing that makes this so unique is the bird variety and abundance. However, to really...More

Make sure you do the 4 day hike to the lost city! It is tough but really worth it. It’s not for the inexperienced though

A lot to do: you can hike to miradors, go to see coffee plantation, or indiginous people life, many excursions to be taken around, or just relax and enjoy the view and peaceful atmosphere of this place

Kind of a hippy backpacker town. There is a coffee farm and a micro brewery outside of town. The roads are a little rough but worth the trip. Very quaint shops & restaurants in the tint town.

This was quite a long tough walk to the top of the mountain to the pine trees (Los Pinos) through extremely muddy roads (only accessible by 4WD, motorbikes and foot), and up through coffee plantations, across streams, and through jungle. Keep an eye (and ear)...More

A 1 week trek to Lost City is a must. Try to go during a full moon so you can see where your going at camp.
