To call this an art gallery doesn’t do it justice. There are pop art, “abstract” pieces all the way to soci-economic, religious and historical pieces, ranging from local Aussie to Asian, European and American. There are even books, study room and library. Wouldn’t recommend…
Huge pretty space but too much modern art for my taste.Right at park area, train and ferry train station.
Nice reception which is free but we paid for the xtra private exhibitions which were very interesting (about Japan). The coffee shop downstairs is pretty good as well. Spent a good few hours in there before we had to move on to return home.
2nd time at the Art Gallery NSW, beautiful free as well as paid exhibits, you can spend a few hours there. There is also a lovely cafe. Will always visit again!
Being a newcomer to the art of Australia, I found the AGNSW to offer a wide range from Aborinal historic and modern to contemporary art. There is also a good collection of early twentieth century Australian and international art. The gallery layout is logical and user friendly.
