It's a great place for meeting since everything begins here. You can buy tours here anywhere in Dunedin, walk to the iconic railway station, visit the church or simply walk around and do some eating and shopping. Once you know the way to octagon, you won't get lost in Dunedin!
The Octagon is really the centre of Dunedin and most tourist things start from and finish there. Plenty of eating and drinking places and money chargers just down the road.
This eight sided plaza serves as the center of the city’s commercial district. Octagon also serves as transportation hub for the area. Upper Octagon has a statue of the poet Robert Burns. Lower Octagon hosts active restaurant and dining scene.
We were dropped off and picked up here off of Princess cruise. We enjoyed several of the buildings on the Octagon before we ventured out on our own around the city.
